16. Design, Synthesis, Mechanistic Rationalization and Application of Asymmetric Transition-Metal Catalysts
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes mechanistic studies, rational ligand design, and synthesis of asymmetric transition metal catalysts. The topics addressed concerned [Papers I-VII]:[I] The asymmetric addition of diethyl zinc to N-(diphenylphosphinoyl)benzalimine catalyzed by bicyclic 2-azanorbornyl-3-methanols was studied. LÄS MER
17. Development of ring-opening catalysts for diesel quality improvement
Sammanfattning : The global oil refining industry with its present shift inproduct distribution towards fuels such as gasoline and dieselwill most likely hold the fort for many years to come. However, times will change and survival will very much depend onprocessing flexibility and being at the frontiers of refiningtechnology, a technology where catalysts play leading roles. LÄS MER
18. Iridium Catalysed Asymmetric Hydrogenation of Olefins and Isomerisation of Allylic Alcohols
Sammanfattning : The work described in this thesis is focused on exploring the efficacy of asymmetric iridium catalysis in the hydrogenation of challenging substrates, including precursors to chiral sulfones and chiral cyclohexanes. Furthermore, iridium catalysis was used to isomerise allylic alcohols to aldehydes, and in a formal total synthesis of Aliskiren (a renin inhibitor). LÄS MER
19. Iridium Catalyzed Carbon- Heteroatom Bond Forming Reactions via Hydrogen Transfer : Method Development and Mechanistic Elucidations
Sammanfattning : The present thesis describes the applicability of two different iridium(III) complexes for C-O and C-N bond forming reactions. The different projects described in this work are united by the use of an iridium catalyst bearing a functionalized N-heterocyclic carbene ligand. LÄS MER
20. Catalytic Methods to Convert Allylic Substrates through Hydride and Proton Shifts : Transition Metal-Catalyzed and Organocatalyzed Approaches
Sammanfattning : The present thesis describes the development of new catalytic protocols to transform allylic substrates into a wide variety of versatile carbonyl and vinyl organic compounds. All procedures that are described in this work have in common the existence of one or more hydrogen shifts as key steps in the mechanism of the reactions. LÄS MER
