  1. 31. Systematics, phylogeography and polyploid evolution in the Dactylorhiza maculata complex (Orchidaceae)

    Författare :David Ståhlberg; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ITS; morphometry; taxonomy; Systematic botany; Växtekologi; Plant ecology; vegetation analysis; recombination; polyploidy; plastid DNA; niche differentiation; chemotaxonomy. Physiology of nonvascular plants; morphology; phytogeography; hybrid zone; glacial refugia; Dactylorhiza; flow cytometry; Systematisk botanik; taxonomi; morfologi; kemotaxonomi. Växters fysiologi inte kärlväxter .;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate and describe different aspects of variation in the Dactylorhiza maculata complex and to relate the variation patterns to underlying biological processes such as Quaternary migration history, hybridization and polyploid evolution. The variation patterns were analysed at various geographic levels using molecular markers (plastid DNA and ITS of nrDNA), cytological data, morphometry and ecological data. LÄS MER

  2. 32. Genomic and transcriptomic investigation of reproductive incompatibility in Drosophila

    Författare :Guilherme Costa Baião; Lisa Klasson; Alistair Darby; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wolbachia; Drosophila; Drosophila paulistorum; Differential Gene Expression; Reproductive Incompatibility; Reproductive Isolation; Comparative Genomics; Transcriptomics; RNA-Seq; Heteroplasmy; Mitochondria; Genomic conflict; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär evolution; Biology with specialization in Molecular Evolution;

    Sammanfattning : Both nuclear and cytoplasmic elements can contribute to the emergence of reproductive incompatibilities that influence evolution and speciation. In the projects that compose this thesis, we use genomics and transcriptomics to study some of those elements in Drosophila. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Genome evolution and adaptation of a successful allopolyploid, Capsella bursa-pastoris

    Författare :Dmytro Kryvokhyzha; Martin Lascoux; Vincent Castric; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; allopolyploidy; population structure; selection; genetic drift; gene expression; parental legacy; genetic load; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär funktionsgenomik; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Functional Genomics;

    Sammanfattning : The term allopolyploid refers to an organism that originated through hybridization and increased its ploidy level by retaining the unreduced genomes of its parents. Both hybridization and polyploidy usually have negative consequences for the organism. LÄS MER

  4. 34. The Genetics of Speciation and Colouration in Carrion and Hooded Crows

    Författare :Jelmer Poelstra; Jochen Wolf; Hans Ellegren; Chris Jiggins; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; evolutionary genetics; genomics; birds; next-generation sequencing; pigmentation; pigmentation genetics; eumelanin; social selection; gene expression; population genomics; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Genetics; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär genetik;

    Sammanfattning : A fundamental goal in biological research is to gain an understanding of the evolutionary processes and genetic elements that drive speciation. Genes responsible for reproductive isolation in young divergent lineages are particularly poorly known. In this thesis, the speciation genetics of carrion (Corvus (corone) corone) and hooded (C. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Determination, characterisation and combination of novel resistance genes to stripe and stem rust in wheat

    Författare :Rimsha Ashraf; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Triticum aestivum L., commonly known as bread wheat, characterized by a chromosomal composition of 2n = 6x = 42 (AABBDD), is a significant source of dietary protein and daily calorie intake for much of the global population. Stripe rust (Puccinia striiformis Westend. f. LÄS MER
