31. Systematics, phylogeography and polyploid evolution in the Dactylorhiza maculata complex (Orchidaceae)
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate and describe different aspects of variation in the Dactylorhiza maculata complex and to relate the variation patterns to underlying biological processes such as Quaternary migration history, hybridization and polyploid evolution. The variation patterns were analysed at various geographic levels using molecular markers (plastid DNA and ITS of nrDNA), cytological data, morphometry and ecological data. LÄS MER
32. Genomic and transcriptomic investigation of reproductive incompatibility in Drosophila
Sammanfattning : Both nuclear and cytoplasmic elements can contribute to the emergence of reproductive incompatibilities that influence evolution and speciation. In the projects that compose this thesis, we use genomics and transcriptomics to study some of those elements in Drosophila. LÄS MER
33. Genome evolution and adaptation of a successful allopolyploid, Capsella bursa-pastoris
Sammanfattning : The term allopolyploid refers to an organism that originated through hybridization and increased its ploidy level by retaining the unreduced genomes of its parents. Both hybridization and polyploidy usually have negative consequences for the organism. LÄS MER
34. The Genetics of Speciation and Colouration in Carrion and Hooded Crows
Sammanfattning : A fundamental goal in biological research is to gain an understanding of the evolutionary processes and genetic elements that drive speciation. Genes responsible for reproductive isolation in young divergent lineages are particularly poorly known. In this thesis, the speciation genetics of carrion (Corvus (corone) corone) and hooded (C. 35. Determination, characterisation and combination of novel resistance genes to stripe and stem rust in wheat
Sammanfattning : Triticum aestivum L., commonly known as bread wheat, characterized by a chromosomal composition of 2n = 6x = 42 (AABBDD), is a significant source of dietary protein and daily calorie intake for much of the global population. Stripe rust (Puccinia striiformis Westend. f. LÄS MER
