Sammanfattning : The worldwide increase of hip fractures is a major challenge for the health care system and society. The treatment of femoral neck fractures in the elderly is still controversial, and even more so from an international perspective. LÄS MER
22. Towards Model-Based Development of Self-Managing Automotive Systems : Modeling, Simulation, Model Transformations and Algorithms: Supporting the Development of the DySCAS Middleware
Sammanfattning : With the increased usage of electronics, embedded computer systems, software and networks in modern vehicles, the complexity is also increasing in terms of the development process, functionalities as well as their implementation. On one hand there is a need for efficient and systematic development, and on the other hand the systems are required to have enhanced post-deployment time configuration management support. LÄS MER
23. Biomechanical and Clinical Aspects on Fixation Techniques in the Cervical Spine
Sammanfattning : The present work is analyzing the general biomechanical aspects of fixation techniques in the upper and lower cervical spine along with clinical implications. The in vitro biomechanical properties of five different posterior atlanto-axial fixation techniques are compared. LÄS MER
24. Biodegradable magnesium implants, immunomodulation, and tissue repair/regeneration
Sammanfattning : The century-old paradigm of holding fractures with a metallic implant to enable bone repair, known as osteosynthesis, is still used today without alteration. Patients are increasingly being treated with metallic implants made of magnesium (Mg) that secure osteosynthesis and are reabsorbed in situ without the surgical re-entry that requires their permanent analogs. 25. Aspects of maxillary sinus reconstruction with endosseous implants
Sammanfattning : This study of maxillary sinus reconstruction in conjunction with insertion of endosseous implants included 99 patients. Two separate surgical methods were applied; a one-staged strategy (n=49) and a two-staged strategy (n=50). The aims were to compare two different strategies concerning implant and prosthetic construction survival. LÄS MER
