  1. 36. Surgical complications after vaginal and caesarean delivery

    Författare :Charlotta Larsson; Pär Nordin; Ewa Lundgren; Katarina Tunón; Peter Mathiessen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgical complications; cardiovascular complications; anal incontinence; anal sphincter injuries; caesarean section; vaginal delivery; three-dimensional endoanal ultrasound; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIS) after vaginal delivery are the most common cause of anal incontinence in women. Symptoms range from faecal urgency and soiling to inability to control flatus and passive faecal incontinence. 2. 37. Accidental hypothermia and local cold injury : physiological and epidemiological studies on risk

    Författare :Helge Brändström; Michael Haney; Urban Wiklund; Anders Eriksson; Karl-Axel Ängquist; Ola Winsö; Sigridur Kalman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cold-related injuries; hypothermia; frostbite; cold adaptation; rewarming; autonomic nervous system; heart rate variability;

    Sammanfattning : Background: (Papers I and II) The objectives were to first determine incidence and contributing factors to cold-related injuries in northern Sweden, both those that led to hospitalization and those that led to fatality.  (Papers III and IV) A further aim was to assess post-cooling hand-rewarming responses and effects of training in a cold environment, both on fingertip rewarming and on function of the autonomic nervous system, to evaluate if there was adaptation related to prolonged occupational cold exposure. 3. 38. Thoracic injuries in frontal car crashes: risk assessment using a finite element human body model

    Författare :Manuel Mendoza-Vazquez; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; finite element; Thoracic injury criteria; rib fracture; human body model; real-world crash data; survival analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Accident data show that there is a clear need to improve the protection to occupants’ thorax in frontal car crashes. For this purpose, models that can predict the risk of injuries and assess the occupant protection offered by different restraint systems are needed. LÄS MER

  4. 39. Median and Ulnar Nerve Injuries in Children and Adolescents- Long-term outcome and Cerebral reorganisation

    Författare :Anette Chemnitz; Malmö Handkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : A peripheral nerve injury may lead to serious disability and influence the individual´s quality of life. It is considered that children can regain better sensory and motor function after a peripheral nerve injury, but the exact mechanism behind such superior recovery is not known. LÄS MER

  5. 40. Rehabilitation and outcomes after spasticity-correcting surgery in the upper limb

    Författare :Therese Ramström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; central nervous system diseases; ; muscle spasticity; ; activities of daily living; ; occupational therapy; ; patient-reported outcome measures; ; rehabilitation; ; spinal cord injuries; ; stroke; ; upper extremity; ; motor activity;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The ability to perform everyday life activities is beneficial for one’s self-identity and contributes to human well-being. Enhancement of activity performance is therefore central in all forms of rehabilitation. LÄS MER
