    Sammanfattning : Background: Obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIS) after vaginal delivery are the most common cause of anal incontinence in women. Symptoms range from faecal urgency and soiling to inability to control flatus and passive faecal incontinence. OASIS are also associated with urinary incontinence, perineal pain, and sexual dysfunction. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Objective: To investigate the frequency and degree of anal incontinence after vaginal delivery in primiparous women, to determine risk factors for obstetric sphincter tears and to evaluate outcome of primary repair, to evaluate perineal body measurement (PBM) in patients with obstetric sphincter injuries, to study anal sphincter morphology and function before and after delivery, and to evaluate primiparous women who had sustained a sphincter tear or developed anal incontinence after delivery.     Sammanfattning : One hundred haemorrhoid patients were compared with 300 matched control persons. Haemorrhoid symptoms and bowel symptoms were studied. Most common symptom of the patients was bleeding (44%), followed by prolapse (24%), hygiene problem (14%), pain (12%) and itching (5%). LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In a prospective study established in 1990, anal sphincter rupture at delivery was found in 2.4% of women and 47% of these women had problems with fecal incontinence. Although less severe, fecal incontinence was also found among 45% in a comparison group without anal sphincter rupture. LÄS MER
