16. Attenuation of hand-held machine vibrations. Application of non-linear tuned vibration absorber
Sammanfattning : Vibration injury in the hand-arm system from vibrating hand-held machines is one of the most common occupational health injuries and causes severe and often chronic nerve and vascular injuries to the operator. The objective with this study is to contribute to reduce hand-arm vibration injuries, first by developing methods of redesigning machines that will lower their vibration level and second to study how high frequency vibrations (HFV) above 1250 Hz effect the finger tissue which are not included in the current standard for risk evaluation. 17. Risk of hearing loss from combined exposure to hand-arm vibrations and noise
Sammanfattning : Hearing loss from noise exposure is one of the most common occupational injuries, and exposure to vibrations may increase the risk of noise-induced hearing loss. Earlier cross-sectional and longitudinal studies found an increased risk of noise-induced hearing loss among workers with vibration-induced white fingers (VWF) symptoms compared to workers without such symptoms. 18. Shoulder injuries in adolescent elite handball players
Sammanfattning : Background: Handball is a physically demanding sport that includes jumping, running, side-cutting movements and frequent throwing. A high prevalence of shoulder problems and pain has been reported in adult handball players but the research on adolescent elite players is scarce. LÄS MER
19. Structural and functional studies on nerve regeneration in the rat
Sammanfattning : Peripheral nerves cannot be repaired, but they may be helped to regenerate. The results of surgical treatment of nerve injuries remain disappointing, however. This is a biological rather than a technical challenge. LÄS MER
20. Cutaneous effects of nerve injury : An experimental study in the rat
Sammanfattning : One of the most difficult tasks of the hand surgeon is to reach a satisfactory restoration of the nerve functions of the injuried hand. In spite of the use of meticulous microsurgery, the results of nerve repair are disappointing, particularly with respect to mixed nerve trunks. LÄS MER
