11. Tunable Filters based on Ferroelectrics and Semiconductor Varactors
Sammanfattning : Experimental investigation and development of tunable microwave filters, based on single crystals of SrTiO3 (STO) and KTaO3 (KTO), form the main work of this thesis. The dielectric properties of STO and KTO crystals are evaluated experimentally for a wide temperature range, with a DC bias, using parallel-plate resonators with High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) and normal metal (Cu) electrodes. 13. Studies of high-temperature superconducting tapes and their application in power apparatus
Sammanfattning : Intensive development in the field of high-temperature superconductors (HTS) has resulted in long length HTS with high current carrying capacity. The performance of HTS in the form of multifilamentary silver sheathed Bi-2223 tapes is close to the requirements for power application. LÄS MER
14. High-throughput screening using multicellular tumor spheroids to reveal and exploit tumor-specific vulnerabilities
Sammanfattning : High-throughput drug screening (HTS) in live cells is often a vital part of the preclinical anticancer drug discovery process. So far, two-dimensional (2D) monolayer cell cultures have been the most prevalent model in HTS endeavors. However, 2D cell cultures often fail to recapitulate the complex microenvironments of in vivo tumors. LÄS MER
15. Exploring genetic heterogeneity in cancer using high-throughput DNA and RNA sequencing
Sammanfattning : High-throughput sequencing (HTS) technology has revolutionised the biomedical sciences, where it is used to analyse the genetic makeup and gene expression patterns of both primary patient tissue samples and models cultivated in vitro. This makes it especially useful for research on cancer, a disease that is characterised by its deadliness and genetic heterogeneity. LÄS MER
