21. Studies of Supported Catalysts for Environmental Applications: - Flow Reactor Measurements, Monte Carlo Simulations and High Throughput Screening
Sammanfattning : The use of heterogeneous catalysts for environmental applications, primarily for reduction of harmful emissions from vehicles and stationary sources, has successively increased during the last three decades. Driven by emission regulations, research and development within this area attract large interest and resources, especially for automotive applications. LÄS MER
22. High Temperature Superconducting and Tunable Ferroelectric Microwave Devices
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses some applications of High Temperature Superconductors (HTS) and ferroelectric materials in tunable microwave devices and circuits. The work is divided into three main areas: i) modeling of multilayered structures including ferroelectric layers, ii) realization and characterization of tunable coplanar waveguides (CPW), capacitors and resonators based on ferroelectrics, and iii) an investigation of microstrip HTS K-band filters. 23. Ion channels in drug discovery : focus on biological assays
Sammanfattning : Ion channels are well characterised drug targets. However, the techniques used to study ion channel pharmacology have not been particularly applicable to modern drug discovery. LÄS MER
24. Mutations and migration : molecular and epidemiological aspects of HIV-1 in Sweden
Sammanfattning : The Swedish HIV-1 epidemic is characterized by a wide variation in subtypes due to migration and travel. The aims of this thesis were to investigate molecular methods for estimating time to diagnosis and epidemiological tools for estimating the proportion of undiagnosed individuals with HIV-1 in Sweden, as well as to update the knowledge on transmitted and pre-treatment drug resistance (TDR and PDR) among persons living with HIV-1 in Sweden. 25. Methods for 2D and 3D Quantitative Microscopy of Biological Samples
Sammanfattning : New microscopy techniques are continuously developed, resulting in more rapid acquisition of large amounts of data. Manual analysis of such data is extremely time-consuming and many features are difficult to quantify without the aid of a computer. LÄS MER
