1. Investigations on the Formation of Defect Bands in Semi-Solid High Pressure Die Cast Aluminium-Silicon Alloys
Sammanfattning : High-pressure die casting of semi-solid aluminium-silicon alloys is used in the automotive industry to manufacture components, like housings, brackets, and bars. It is commonly known that during high-pressure die casting, defect bands may be created that follow the contour of the component surface. These bands consist mainly of a eutectic phase. LÄS MER
2. Atmospheric corrosion of the MgAl alloy AM50 in rheocast and high pressure diecast conditions - Influence of Microstructure, CO2 and NaCl
Sammanfattning : The NaCl-induced atmospheric corrosion of the high pressure diecast (HPDC) MgAl alloy AM50 was investigated. Commercially pure (CP) Mg was used as the reference. Two levels of salt; i.e. LÄS MER
3. The effect of microstructure and temperature on the atmospheric corrosion of Mg-Al alloys
Sammanfattning : The NaCl-induced atmospheric corrosion behavior of the Mg-Al alloy AM50 produced by rheo-casting (RC) and high pressure die casting (HPDC) techniques was studied in the laboratory. The exposures were performed at 95% RH in the absence and presence of 400 ppm CO2 at 22, 4 and -4ºC. In parallel, 99.97%Mg was investigated as reference. LÄS MER
4. Optimization product parts in high pressure die casting process
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes optimization of die temperature in high pressure die-casting (HPDC) of A380 alloy by experimental observation and numerical simulation with the use of statistical tools. The goal of this research is to determine the optimum die temperature to minimize incidence of these defects and thus maximize production of parts without defects. LÄS MER
5. Mechanical Properties of Semi-Solid Al Castings : Role of Stirring
Sammanfattning : Semi-solid metal (SSM) casting has been widely used in automotive industries to reduce the weight. In RheoMetalTM process which is one of the variations of SSM, the slurry fabrication can be finished within 30 second and can the slurry making process can be integrated into a high pressure die casting (HPDC) route without significant adjustments, making the process a promising alternative for industrial application.
