  1. 11. Acute sports injuries in Sweden and their possible prevention : an epidemiological study using insurance data

    Författare :Malin Åman; Karin Larsén; Magnus Forssblad; Jerker Sandelin; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; permanent medical impairment; severe injuries; knee injury; dental; eye injury; football; handball; ice hockey; floorball; basketball; motorcycle; automobile sports; incidence of acute injury; invaliditet; allvarliga skador; idrottsskada; försäkringsdata; knäskada; prevention; fotboll; innebandy; handboll; ishockey; basket; motorcykel; bilsport; tandskada; ögonskada; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Physical activity is an essential component of a healthy life, e.g. to prevent obesity, cardiovascular disease and premature death, of which sports can be an important part. Unfortunately, sports activities increase the risk of both overuse and acute injuries. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Effects of exercise and amino acid intake on mechanisms regulating protein synthesis and breakdown in human muscle

    Författare :Marcus Moberg; Eva Blomstrand; Hans-Christer Holmberg; Jørgen Jensen; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Resistance exercise; concurrent exericse; leucine; BCAA; mTORC1 signaling; protein synthesis; MuRF-1; PGC-1alpha; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Skeletal muscle adapts differently to specific modes of exercise, where resistance training results in muscle growth and endurance training induces mitochondrial biogenesis. These are results of molecular events that occur after each exercise session, increasing the expression of specific genes and the rate of both synthesis and breakdown of protein. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Early specialising aesthetic performers : An investigation of conceptualisation, motivation, and context

    Författare :Charlotte Downing; Sanna Nordin-Bates; Karin Redelius; Joe Baker; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Samhällsvetenskap Humaniora; Social Sciences Humanities;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral research project is situated within the wider debate of talent development in so-called early sports, where early specialisation is often normalised. The overarching aim is to investigate early specialisation within the context of Swedish aesthetic activities. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Skeletal muscle fiber types in man : With special reference to anabolic signaling and mitochondrial bioenergetics

    Författare :Sebastian Edman; William Apro; Filip J Larsen; Abram Katz; Leigh Breen; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mTORC1; THRIFTY; fiber type identification; muscle growth; aging; sarcopenia; mitochondrial function; oxphos; metabolism; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Human skeletal muscle consists of a mixture of slow-twitch (type I) and fast-twitch (type II) fibers. The type I fibers are endurance-oriented, with a metabolic system and infrastructure that supports aerobic metabolism. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Bilateral kinetic, kinematic, neuromechanical, and muscle-tendon properties of habitual runners

    Författare :Tiago Canal Jacques; Anton Arndt; Rodrigo Bini; John Rasmussen; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Achilles tendon overuse-related injuries are a frequent problem to habitual runners. Such injuries occur more often unilaterally and its etiology is associated to overloading of the tendon tissue. Inter-limb differences during running are a possible cause for overload due to eventual differences in the mechanical loading provided to each limb. LÄS MER
