  1. 6. A comprehensive study of resistor-loaded planar dipole antennas for ground penetrating radar applications

    Författare :Disala Uduwawala; Martin Norgren; Olav Breinbjerg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ground penetrating radar; buried object detection; dipole antennas; FDTD methods; broadband properties; baluns; simulation; optimal design; lossy media; dispersive media; clutter.; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Ground penetrating radar (GPR) systems are increasingly being used for the detection and location of buried objects within the upper regions of the earth’s surface. The antenna is the most critical component of such a system. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Transportation is the main source of environmental noise in Europe, with an estimated 125 million people affected by excessive noise levels from road traffic, causing a burden of noise related diseases and having a substantial economic impact on society. In order to reduce exposure to high levels of traffic noise, two approaches are the topic of extensive research: preventing sound from propagating from roads and railways using for example noise barriers, and reducing the sources of noise themselves. 3. 8. Prediction of Strong Ground Motion and Hazard Uncertainties

    Författare :Behrooz Tavakoli; Ota Kulhanek; Dieter Mayer-Rosa; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; Disaggregation; Ground motion; Monte Carlo simulation; Seismic hazard; Geofysik; Geophysics; Geofysik; Geofysik med inriktning mot seismologi; Geophysics with specialization in Seismology;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to provide a detailed description of recent methods and scientific basis for characterizing earthquake sources within a certain region with distinct tectonic environments. The focus will be on those characteristics that are most significant to the ground-shaking hazard and on how we can incorporate our current knowledge into hazard analyses for engineering design purposes. 4. 9. Solar Colletors Combined with Ground-Source Heat Pumps in Dwellings - Analyses of System Performance

    Författare :Elisabeth Kjellsson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heating in dwellings; TRNSYS simulations; solar collectors; ground-source heat pumps; ground heat;

    Sammanfattning : The use of ground-source heat pumps for heating buildings and domestic hot water in dwellings is increasing rapidly in Sweden. The heat pump extracts heat from the ground by a U-pipe in a vertical borehole. In order to reduce the electricity demand in the system, the combination with solar collectors is introduced. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Running-in of gears - surface and efficiency transformation

    Författare :Mario Sosa; Ulf Olofsson; Stefan Björklund; Ulf Sellgren; Jorge Seabra; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; running-in; surface transformation; efficiency; gears; ground; superfinished; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : With ever shorter development times and market demands on overall system performance such as efficiency, reliability and low maintenance, accurate predictive tools are necessary and gear drives prove to be no exception. All these characteristics have an impact on a process which has remained a riddle: running-in. LÄS MER
