    Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates the effect of bushmeat hunting in southeastern Nigerian rainforests on: 1) adult tree, seedling, and animal community compositions 2) germination and survival among seedlings in association with competition 3) changes in community composition at multiple trophic levels 4) leaf nitrogen concentration (LNC), leaf mass per area (LMA) and stem specific density (SSD) 5) on human reliance on forest resources and rural people use forest resources. Data for the first four evaluations were obtained from surveys, manipulative experiments in seedling plots and collected leaf samples in three pairs of sites with high (hunted sites) and low (protected sites) hunting pressure but with similar adult tree composition.     Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the development of programming frameworks to enforce, by construction, desirable properties of software systems. Particularly, we are interested in enforcing differential privacy -- a mathematical notion of data privacy -- while statically reasoning about the accuracy of computations, along with deriving the sensitivity of arbitrary functions to further strengthen the expressiveness of these systems.     Sammanfattning : Metabolic engineering and process engineering are two powerful disciplines to design and improve microbial processes for sustainable production of an extensive number of compounds ranging from chemicals to pharmaceuticals. The aim of this thesis was to synergistically combine these two disciplines to improve the production of a model chemical called (R)-3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB), which is a medium-value product with a stereocenter and two functional groups.
