It aims at describing the development of formulaic sequences in learners ranging from beginners to very advanced users. Sammanfattning : This study examines the omission of the article and of the subject pronoun in the spoken French of Abidjan, economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire. The occurrence of the bare nouns (NSDs for Noms Sans Déterminant) and subject-less tensed verbs (SujNuls for Sujets Nuls) in question is contrary to common use in standard as well as ordinary French. Sammanfattning : This thesis contains two studies focusing on motivation in learning and teaching French as a foreign language in Sweden. In the first study, the effect of three specifically designed pedagogical activities on learners’ Ideal French Self (IFrS) and Intended Effort (IE) was examined in a group of 15-year-old Swedish pupils. Sammanfattning : What are the linguistic characteristics of French newspapers headlines? Employing three aspects of linguistic analysis (syntax, pragmatics and stylistics), the present thesis describes and analyses the textual "genre" of the headline. The author regards a newspaper headline as an autonomous text which carries various functions within the newspaper's discourse and therefore has specific features as regards language use. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This dissertation studies the reception of one of August Strindberg’s chamber plays, The Ghost sonata (La Sonate des spectres, Spök-sonaten, 1907), in France, focusing on its translation, transposition to the stage and integration within a given cultural system. The early interest of Antonin Artaud in this play around 1930 led to its being adopted by the French avant-garde theatre and made famous through its staging by Roger Blin in 1949. LÄS MER
