  1. 36. Essays on total factor productivity (TFP)

    Författare :Pontus Mattsson; Jonas Månsson; Lars Behrenz; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; conditional difference-in-difference cDID ; Data Envelopment Analysis DEA ; District courts; Malmquist index; subsidized employment; Total factor productivity TFP ; Törnqvist TFP index; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two self-contained empirical essays. Essay I investigates the impact of labor subsidies on TFP, and profit per employee is included as a second outcome. Coarsened exact matching (CEM) is performed on the key variables. After matching, a difference-in-difference (DID) model is applied. LÄS MER

  2. 37. The rough journey to access health care : the case of leishmaniasis in the Bolivian rainforest

    Författare :Daniel V. Eid Rodríguez; Miguel San Sebastián; Isabel Goicolea; Anna-Karin Hurtig; John Porter; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cutaneous leishmaniasis; Health-care access; risk factors; population surveillance; capture-recapture; health care seeking behavior; intralesional pentavalent antimonials; economic analysis; cost analysis; budget impact analysis; Bolivia; rainforest; Public health; folkhälsa;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Leishmaniasis is a parasitic infectious disease transmitted by vectors that cause three main clinical syndromes: cutaneous (CL), mucosal (ML), and visceral (VL). Since VL is not relevant to this thesis, only CL and ML will be further discussed. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Computational Analysis of Gas Flow and Heat Transport Phenomena in Ducts Relevant for Fuel Cells

    Författare :Jinliang Yuan; Värmeöverföring; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; PEMFC.; SOFC; CFD; Duct; Transport Process; Fuel Cell; Heat Transfer; Gas Flow; Numerical Simulation; Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis concerns modeling, simulation and numerical analysis of heat and mass transport, and fluid flow in ducts of both solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). The unique fuel cell boundary conditions (thermal, mass) for the flow ducts in fuel cells are identified and applied. LÄS MER

  4. 39. Avvaktande eller aktiv handläggning vid långsam förlossningsprogress hos friska förstföderskor - En studie om riskfaktorer, obstetriskt utfall och förlossningsupplevelse

    Författare :Anna Dencker; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; randomised controlled trial; nulliparous women; slow labour progress; prolonged labour; oxytocin augmentation; operative delivery; risk factors; labour duration; multiple regression analysis; childbirth questionnaire; factor analysis; childbirth experience;

    Sammanfattning : Slow labour progress is common in nulliparous women and is associated with childbirth complications and negative birth experiences. Oxytocin augmentation is widely used to treat slow labour despite associated risks for the fetus. An ongoing debate concerns whether oxytocin should be administered directly or postponed after arrested labour. LÄS MER

  5. 40. Very Low Bitrate Video Communication : A Principal Component Analysis Approach

    Författare :Ulrik Söderström; Haibo Li; Luis Torres; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Video compression; Very low bitrate; Principal component analysis; Complexity; Semantically important areas; Wearable video; Other electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Övrig elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik;

    Sammanfattning : A large amount of the information in conversations come from non-verbal cues such as facial expressions and body gesture. These cues are lost when we don't communicate face-to-face. But face-to-face communication doesn't have to happen in person. With video communication we can at least deliver information about the facial mimic and some gestures. LÄS MER
