11. Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair : Clinical and morphological outcomes
Sammanfattning : In the years following its introduction in the late 1980’s, thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) rose as a minimally invasive alternative to open surgical repair of thoracic aortic disease. As a result, an expanding group of patients are receiving invasive treatment, even though evidence in the area is still scarce. LÄS MER
12. Abdominal compartment syndrome and colonic ischaemia after abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in the endovascular era
Sammanfattning : Abdominal Compartment Syndrome (ACS) and colonic ischaemia (CI) are serious and potentially lethal complications after open (OSR) and endovascular repair (EVAR) of ruptured (rAAA) and intact (iAAA) abdominal aortic aneurysms. The aims of this thesis were to investigate the incidence, outcome, and risk factors associated with ACS (Papers I-III) and to evaluate extraluminal colonic tonometry for postoperative surveillance of colonic perfusion (Paper IV). 13. Endovascular Treatment of Complex Aortic Pathologies – The Importance of Adequate Patient Selection and Thorough Evaluation of Novel Techniques
Sammanfattning : Aortic pathologies include a broad spectrum of diseases, whose inci-dence, prevalence and mortality typically increases with age. Traditional-ly, open surgery was the only viable treatment solution. LÄS MER
14. Aortic infections : The Nadir of Vascular Surgery
Sammanfattning : Aortic infections are rare, life-threatening and constitute a major challenge in surgical management. This thesis aims to evaluate short – and long-term outcome of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) for mycotic aortic aneurysms (MAA) and the subsequent risk of recurrent infections, changes in surgical practice over time for abdominal MAAs in Sweden and outcome for different treatment modalities, as well as the risk of secondary vascular infection after treatment with Open abdomen after aortic surgery. 15. Livskvalitet och hälsa - Patienters upplevelser i samband med Abdominellt Aorta Aneurysm
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on four studies where the overall aim was to explore and describe experiences of being diagnosed with Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), and if experiences of care and treatment, affect quality of life and health. Two of the studies were qualitative, where a phenomenological hermeneutic and a hermeneutic method of interpretation and analysis were used. LÄS MER
