  1. 1. Abdominal compartment syndrome and colonic ischaemia after abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in the endovascular era

    Författare :Samuel Ersryd; Anders Wanhainen; Martin Björck; Khatereh Djavani; Anders Albäck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aortic aneurysm-abdominal; Intra-abdominal pressure; Intra-abdominal hypertension; Abdominal compartment syndrome; Rupture; Open ab-domen treatment; Colonic ischaemia; Endovascular aneurysm repair; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Abdominal Compartment Syndrome (ACS) and colonic ischaemia (CI) are serious and potentially lethal complications after open (OSR) and endovascular repair (EVAR) of ruptured (rAAA) and intact (iAAA) abdominal aortic aneurysms. The aims of this thesis were to investigate the incidence, outcome, and risk factors associated with ACS (Papers I-III) and to evaluate extraluminal colonic tonometry for postoperative surveillance of colonic perfusion (Paper IV). 2. 2. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm : Experience from a Screening Study in Northern Sweden

    Författare :Anders Wanhainen; Martin Björck; Jesper Swedenborg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; abdominal aortic aneurysm; definition; prevalence; ultrasonography; computed tomography; variability; quality of life; SF-36; risk factor; cholesterol; smoking; CRP; heredity; atherosclerosis; screening; cost-effectiveness; cost-utility; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a common problem with life-threatening consequences and was suspected to be a serious health problem in Norsjö, a municipality in northern Sweden. A screening study was undertaken to investigate the prevalence, risk factors associated with AAA and the effect of screening on quality of life (QoL). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Intra-abdominal Hypertension and Colonic Hypoperfusion after Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair

    Författare :Khatereh Djavani Gidlund; Martin Björck; Anders Wanhainen; Johan Valtysson; Martin Malina; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abdominal aneurysm; Intra-abdomnial hypertension; Abdominal compartment syndrome; Colonic ischaemia; Colonic hypotension; Intra-abdominal pressure; rupture abdominal aortic aneurysm; Vascular surgery; Kärlkirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Colonic ischaemia (CI), Intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) are devastating complications after abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) surgery. The aims of this thesis were to study the incidence and clinical consequences of IAH/ACS and the association between CI and intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) among patients undergoing OR for ruptured AAA (rAAA), to compare extraluminal pHi monitoring, with standard intra-luminal monitoring among patients operated on for AAA, and to study the frequency and clinical consequences of IAH/ACS after endovascular repair (EVAR) for rAAA. 4. 4. Aspects on Imaging and Endovascular Treatment of Aortic Dissection and Aneurysm

    Författare :Mats-Ola Eriksson; Rickard Nyman; Anders Wanhainen; Johnny Steuer; Mårten Falkenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Aneurysms; aorta; stents; ultrasound; colour Doppler; vascular; interventional; aortic dissection; complicated; TEVAR; EVAR; re-intervention; survival; thrombosis; false lumen; aortic remodelling; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Aortic aneurysm and dissections are potentially life threatening conditions. The advent of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has reduced perioperative mortality and morbidity and are now established therapy methods for treatment of aortic disease. 5. 5. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm : Aspects on how to affect mortality from rupture

    Författare :Jakob Hager; Toste Länne; Fredrik Lundgren; Per Carlsson; Anders Wanhainen; Östergötlands Läns Landsting; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; abdominal aortic aneurysm rupture AAA rAAA screening one-stop two stop prevalence risk factor cost-effectiveness;

    Sammanfattning : Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is a disease that mainly affects elderly men, and ruptured AAA (rAAA) is associated with a mortality of > 80%. AAA seldom gives any symptoms prior to rupture.The aims of this thesis were to investigate different aspects of how to affect mortality from rAAA. LÄS MER
