  1. 26. Seagrass productivity : from plant to system

    Författare :Diana Deyanova; Mats Björk; Mirta Teichberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Seagrass; Chlorophyll a fluorescence; Ageing; Productivity; Seasonality; Stress response; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Seagrasses form one of the most productive habitats on earth and are recognized as very efficient carbon sinks. The levels and patterns of productivity within and across different seagrass systems vary widely due to natural or human-induced factors. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Evolutionary studies of the Gnetales

    Författare :Chen Hou; Catarina Rydin; Richard Saunders; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Sammanfattning : The Gnetales consist of three distinct genera, Ephedra, Gnetum and Welwitschia with considerable divergence among them regarding morphological, ecological and molecular characters. A longstanding debate of the similarity between the Gnetales and angiosperms and the unresolved seed plant phylogeny intrigues plant scientists to further investigate the evolutionary history of the Gnetales. 3. 28. Calcareous Algae of a Tropical Lagoon : Primary Productivity, Calcification and Carbonate Production

    Författare :Juma W. Kangwe; Mats Björk; Lena Kautsky; Ian Bryceson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The green algae of the genus Halimeda Lamouroux (Chlorophyta, Bryopsidales) and the encrusting loose-lying red coralline algae (Rhodophyta, Corallinales) known as rhodoliths are abundant and widespread in all oceans. They significantly contribute to primary productivity while alive and production of CaCO3 rich sediment materials on death and decay. LÄS MER

  4. 29. The ecological significance of cleistogamy

    Författare :Henrik Berg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; bet-hedging; chasmogamous; enviromnental variation; fitness; outcrossing; progeny; selling; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : Various aspects of cleistogamy, a reproductive system combining selfing in closed (cleistogamous) flowers and potential outcrossing in open (chasmogamous) flowers, were investigated in four perennial species. The main purpose was to shed some light on the adaptive value of having a dual reproductive strategy, and to test some hypotheses on the maintenance of xenogamy. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Use of phytometers for evaluating ecological restoration

    Författare :Anna L. Dietrich; Christer Nilsson; Martin Wassen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioassay; Channelization; Ecosystem change; Ecosystem response; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : The increase in ecological restoration can be attributed to valuation of healthyecosystems and concerns for future climate changes. Freshwaters belong among theglobally most altered ecosystems and are restored to counteract human impacts. LÄS MER
