  1. 1. Synthesis and Tuning of Multifunctional Materials at High Pressure

    Författare :Lei Liu; Peter Lazor; Roland Mathieu; Guoyin Shen; Viktor Struzhkin; Ronald Miletich-Pawliczek; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; double perovskite; multiferroic; bandgap engineering; high-entropy alloy; high pressure; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Earth Science with specialization in Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : At the present stage, human society is developing at an unprecedented speed, facing an emergence of highly pressing challenges, e.g., information explosion, energy production problems, environmental pollution, climate problems. Functional materials with tailored properties are considered as holding a key to solving these problems. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The human-environment connection in the mostly rural drylands of sub-Saharan Africa forms a complex, interlinked system that provides ecosystem services. This system is susceptible to climatic variability that impacts the supply of its products, and high population growth, which impacts the demand for these products. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Coastal waters have high biological productivity and provide goods and services with a high monetary value. Coasts are used by many different stakeholders and are often densely populated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Experimental Study of some Potassium and Sodium Bearing Aluminosilicates at High Temperatures and High Pressures

    Författare :Faramarz Tutti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Earth sciences; Phlogopite; Orthoclase; Jadeite; Albite; Calcium ferrite; Hollandite; Dehydroxylation; High temperature; High pressure; Lower mantle; Geochemistry; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents the results of a high-temperature and high-pressure experimental study of some abundant aluminositicates, which are the main repositories for the two geochemically important elements, sodium and potassium, in the Earth's crust. Phase transitions of end member alkali feldspars and jadeite clinopyroxene are studied at high and ultrahigh pressures corresponding to the conditions between the transition zone and the deep Earth's lower mantle.
