1. On Surface Topography of Steel Sheet for Car Bodies
Sammanfattning : This thesis is a contribution to the scientific area of surface topography on sheet metal surfaces. The studies are restricted to exploring the influence of the steel sheet,s surface topography on forming properties and on appearance after painting. LÄS MER
2. Some aspects of convection as well as graphite and carbide formations during casting
Sammanfattning : It is an established fact that segregation during casting affects the physical properties of carbon-based ferro alloys; this motivates the study of the segregation behaviour of carbon and carbide-forming solute elements. In this context, this thesis investigates two different situations: the effects of cooling rate and turbulence on the precipitation behaviour of the graphite nodules in nodular cast iron; the nature of carbide precipitation in a bearing steel grade and the effects of subsequent soaking on these carbides. 3. Effect of water contamination on the diffused content of hydrogen under stress in AISI-52100 bearing steel
Sammanfattning : Abstract Hydrogen embrittlement is a degradation process of mechanical/tribological properties (toughness, wear etc.) of mating steel surfaces. This is caused by the presence and interaction of hydrogen with applied stresses. Therefore, it is important to quantify the hydrogen content which could be dissolved under applied stresses in steel. 4. Tribology of Rolling-Sliding Contacts under Mixed Lubrication : With focus on a Crankshaft Roller Bearing Application
Sammanfattning : A continuous increase in environmental legislation to reduce CO2 emissions is forcing engineers and scientists to develop more efficient and durable mechanical components, i.e. bearings, crankshafts, gears, etc. LÄS MER
5. Tribological characteristics of some multi-layered Pb-free engine bearing materials
Sammanfattning : Lead (Pb) containing alloys such as white metals and Cu-Pb-Sn (lining) with Pb-based overlay plating have been extensively used as materials for internal combustion engine bearings during the last several decades. However, owing to environmental and health concerns, the use of Pb containing materials in automotive engine components is being restricted. LÄS MER
