16. CT colonography. Technique, diagnostic accuracy and patient acceptance
Sammanfattning : The aim was to evaluate diagnostic potential, technical performance, and patient acceptance of CT colonography when used for detection of colorectal polyps and cancer in symptomatic patients with a high risk of colorectal neoplasia. Methods: After bowel preparation, 111 symptomatic patients underwent CT colonography followed by conventional colonoscopy. 17. Imaging of hip trauma - occult, suspect and concomitant fractures
Sammanfattning : Background: Between one and nine percent of all hip fractures are occult or suspect and further examinations with computed tomography (CT) and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are vital for further handling. Statistically robust conclusions have not been previously reported. LÄS MER
18. Statistical methods in medical image estimation and sparse signal recovery
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents work on methods for the estimation of computed tomography (CT) images from magnetic resonance (MR) images for a number of diagnostic and therapeutic workflows. The study also demonstrates sparse signal recovery method, which is an intermediate method for magnetic resonance image reconstruction. LÄS MER
19. Pulmonary embolism : validation of diagnostic imaging methods in the clinical setting
Sammanfattning : Pulmonary embolism (PE) is an elusive diagnosis and none of the existing imaging modalities have a 100% diagnostic specificity or sensitivity. Pulmonary arteriography (PA) is the most specific test although the improvement of computed tomography technique has made this a commonly used method. Lung scintigraphy often gives ambiguous results. 20. Nuclear medicine methods in idiopathic Parkinsonism : pre- and postsynaptic dopamine SPECT
Sammanfattning : Background: Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with dopamine transporter (DAT) and dopamine D2 receptor (D2R) ligands can visualise the integrity of the nigrostriatal dopamine system. Parkinson’s disease (PD) and the atypical parkinsonian diseases (APD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and multiple system atrophy (MSA), have similar symptoms and dopamine depletion, but differ in pharmacological response and prognosis.
