31. On striatum in silico
Sammanfattning : The basal ganglia are a collection of subcortical nuclei involved in movement and action selection. The striatum is the main input nucleus with extensive projections from the cortex and thalamus, and dopaminergic projections from SNc and VTA. LÄS MER
32. Striatal signaling in the treatment of Parkinson's disease
Sammanfattning : Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by typical motor symptoms that are caused by depletion of dopamine (DA) in the striatum. These symptoms are treated with the DA precursor L-DOPA, or with DA receptor (DAR) agonists. LÄS MER
33. Dopamine D2 and D3 receptors. Studies on transduction mechanisms and on the role of a D3 gene polymorphism
Sammanfattning : The neurotransmitter dopamine has been implicated in the pathophysiology of, e.g., Parkinson s disease and schizophrenia, and dopamine receptor-active compounds are commonly employed therapeutically in these and other disorders. LÄS MER
34. Modeling Biochemical Network Involved in Striatal Dopamine Signaling
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I studied the molecular integration of reward-learning related neuromodulatory inputs by striatal medium-sized projection neurons (MSNs) using mass-action kinetic modeling. It is known that, in reward learning, an unexpected reward results in transient elevation in dopamine (peak) whereas omission of an expected reward leads to transient dopamine decrease (dip). 35. Regulation by glutamate- and adenosine-receptors of dopamine and acetylcholine release from rat striatal slices
Sammanfattning : The striatum, which is critically involved in sensory motor integration, receives an excitatory glutamatergic input from the cerebral cortex and the thalamus. The effects of the glutamatergic stimulation are modulated by dopamine (DA) released from a prominent dopaminergic input, acetylcholine (ACh) released from cholinergic interneurons and by the ubiquitous neuromodulator adenosine.
