16. Bush Generals and Small Boy Battalions : Military Cohesion in Liberia and Beyond
Sammanfattning : All organizations involved in war are concerned with military cohesion. Yet previous studies have only investigated cohesion in a very narrow manner, focusing almost solely on Western state militaries or on micro-level explanations. This dissertation argues for the need to broaden this perspective. LÄS MER
17. Decentring Criminal Law : Understandings of Justice by Victim-Survivors of Sexual Violence and their Implications for Different Justice Strategies
Sammanfattning : The compilation dissertation is shaped by the ambition of Critical Theory, which is to imagine an alternative and emancipatory political reality to the status quo, where people who have been subjected to sexual violence are recognised and enjoy parity of participation in social life. More specifically, it aims to understand how victim-survivors of sexual violence in Iceland perceive, experience, and understand justice; and how, in a Nordic socio-legal context, this knowledge can be used to expand and develop strategies which are capable of meeting the justice interests of victim-survivors within and outside of the criminal justice system. 18. Experimental Studies of Charge Transport in Single Crystal Diamond Devices
Sammanfattning : Diamond is a promising material for high-power, high-frequency and high- temperature electronics applications, where its outstanding physical properties can be fully exploited. It exhibits an extremely high bandgap, very high carrier mobilities, high breakdown field strength, and the highest thermal conductivity of any wide bandgap material. LÄS MER
19. Characterization and Compensation of Thermal Effects in GaN HEMT Technologies
Sammanfattning : Further advancements with GaN based technologies relies on the ability to handle the heat flux, which consequently arises from the high power density. Advanced cooling techniques and thermal optimization of the technology are therefore prioritized research areas. LÄS MER
20. Plant Inducible Responses to Damage: Evolution and Ecological Implications
Sammanfattning : Abstract Inducible plant responses to damage, i.e. inducible defence responses and compensatory growth responses, are theoretically examined in an evolutionary and ecological context. Inducible defences are generally considered to be beneficial under conditions of low risk of herbivory and when initial damage is moderate. LÄS MER
