    Sammanfattning : Diamond is a promising material for high-power, high-frequency and high- temperature electronics applications, where its outstanding physical properties can be fully exploited.     Sammanfattning : The results from high-pressure single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies of some ternary sodium transition metal fluorides are presented. The structures of NaMnF4, Na2MnF5, Na3MnF6 and Na3ScF6 have been investigated at high pressures, and in connection with these studies the Na5Mn3F14 structure has been investigated at ambient pressure.     Sammanfattning : This thesis explores crystal-phase engineering of nanowires to fabricate advanced quantum structures for charge and spin transport studies. Quantum dots formed by crystal-phase tuning during epitaxial growth of InAs nanowires were used as a starting point to realize and electrically characterize two different types of parallel-coupled quantum dots; electron-hole quantum dots and electron-electron quantum dots.
