Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to study the development of theory of mind (ToM) in two groups of children with atypical language development, using a longitudinal design. The two groups were children with cerebral palsy and severe speech impairment (SSPI) (aged between 5 and 7 years at the first data collection) and deaf non-native, early signing, children (aged between 7 and 10 years at the first data collection), the emphasis being on the deaf children. 23. Work and psychiatric disabilities. A person, environment, and occupation perspective on Individual Placement and Support
Sammanfattning : This thesis adds to the knowledge base of how the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) can be optimized to secure a more sustainable working career for people with severe mental illness (SMI). The thesis has given the IPS-participants an active voice about what it is like to start to work in a Swedish context, visualised the psychiatric disability in relation to work, discerned the support and process in IPS, and emphasized the employers’ experiences in an IPS-context. 24. Autism Spectrum Disorders: cognitive aspects and preventions
Sammanfattning : Aim: The overarching aims of this thesis were to (a) gain further insight into the developmental/cognitive aspects of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in young children, and (b) assess outcome after interventions of varying intensity. Methods: In a prospectively designed longitudinal naturalistic study, 208 preschool children with ASD were comprehensively assessed - including with a variety of cognitive tests and other structured neurodevelopmental/adaptive interviews, observation schedules and questionnaires - before start of intervention and at the end of intervention after two years.
