    Sammanfattning : This thesis summarizes a study on the pressure-induced amorphization (PIA) and structures of amorphous states of clathrate hydrates (CHs).PIA involves the transition of a crystalline material into an amorphous solid in response of mechanical compression at temperatures well below the melting point. Sammanfattning : In this thesis H-bonded systems (natural gas hydrates, water clusters, and crystal ice) are studied by density functional theory (DFT) computations.Natural gas hydrates (NGHs) play an important role in energy and environmental fields: NGHs are considered as a promising backup energy resource in the near-future due to their tremendous carbon content; improper exploration of NGHs could induce geological disasters and aggravate the greenhouse effect. 3. 3. Theoretical Investigations of Water Clusters, Ice Clathrates and Functionalized Nanoparticles

    Författare :Annika Lenz; Lars Ojamäe; Kim Bolton; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Nanosized structures are of intermediate size between individual molecules and bulkmaterials which gives them several unique properties. At the same time their relative limitedsizes make them suitable for studies by the methods of computational chemistry. LÄS MER
