  1. 1. BEN-solo proteins in genome architecture and function

    Författare :Malin Ueberschär; Qi Dai; Mattias Mannervik; Nicola Iovino; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gene regulation; transcription; insulators; genome architecture; Polymerase II pausing; chromatin; Drosophila development; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Eukaryotic genomes are organized in a complex manner inside the nucleus of each cell. Chromatin insulators are DNA elements that help to fold the linear DNA fiber in three-dimensional space and partition regulatory gene units. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Chromatin Insulators and CTCF: Architects of Epigenetic States during Development

    Författare :Rituparna Mukhopadhyay; Rolf Ohlsson; Karim Malik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; DNA methylation; CTCF; Chromatin insulators; Microarray; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : A controlled and efficient coordination of gene expression is the key for normal development of an organism. In mammals, a subset of autosomal genes is expressed monoallelically depending on the sex of the transmitting parent, a phenomenon known as genomic imprinting. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Epigenetic Regulation of Genomic Imprinting and Higher Order Chromatin Conformation

    Författare :Gholamreza Tavoosidana; Rolf Ohlsson; Job Dekker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Epigenetic; Imprinting; Chromatin; CTCF; H19 ICR; 4C; Utvecklingsbiologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : The genetic information encoded by the DNA sequence, can be expressed in different ways. Genomic imprinting is an epigenetic phenomenon that results in monoallelic expression of imprinted genes in a parent of origin-dependent manner. Imprinted genes are frequently found in clusters and can share common regulatory elements. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Transcriptional and epigenetic control of gene expression in embryo development

    Författare :Ann Boija; Mattias Mannervik; Jerry L. Workman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Epigenetics; Cell specification; Drosophila embryo; Dorsal morphogen; CBP p300; Gene regulation; Chromatin; Promoter proximal Pol II pausing; utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental Biology;

    Sammanfattning : During cell specification, temporal and spatially restricted gene expression programs are set up, forming different cell types and ultimately a multicellular organism. In this thesis, we have studied the molecular mechanisms by which sequence specific transcription factors and coactivators regulate RNA polymerase II (Pol II) transcription to establish specific gene expression programs and what epigenetic patterns that follows. 5. 5. Genomic Imprinting in Development and Evolution

    Författare :Joanne Whitehead; Rolf Ohlsson; Andras Paldi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic information is encoded by the linear sequence of the DNA double helix, while epigenetic information is overlayed as the packaging of DNA and associated proteins into the chromatin structure. Variations in chromatin structure play a vital role in establishing and maintaining patterns of gene expression during differentiation and development of higher eukaryotes, and disruption of this epigenetic gene regulation can lead to cancer.
