  1. 1. Anaerobic digestion in the kraft pulp and paper industry : Challenges and possibilities for implementation

    Författare :Eva-Maria Ekstrand; Bo H Svensson; Annika Björn (Fredriksson); David Bastviken; Jukka Rintala; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pulp and paper; anaerobic digestion; fibre sludge; activated sludge; condensates; bleaching wastewater; wastewater treatment; methane; degradability; nutrient recirculation; Pappers- och massa; anaerob nedbrytning; fiberslam; aktivt slam; kondensat; vattenrening; metan; nedbrytbarhet; näringsåterföring;

    Sammanfattning : The pulp and paper industry is a large producer of wastewater and sludge, putting high pressure on waste treatment. In addition, more rigorous environmental legislation for pollution control and demands to increase the use of renewable energy have put further pressure on the pulp and paper industry’s waste treatment, where anaerobic digestion (AD) and the production of methane could pose a solution. 2. 2. The Problem with Errors : Solution Search in Platform Development

    Författare :Ramsin Yakob; Fredrik Tell; Lars Lindkvist; Carliss Baldwin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Platform; Problem-solving; Decomposability; Solution search; Problem; Error; Plattform; Problemlösning; Nedbrytbarhet; Lösningssökande; Problem; Fel; Business and economics; Ekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation is concerned with problem-solving in platform development. A problem isconceived of as an obstacle that needs to be overcome in order to reach a desired outcome,whereas a solution is denoted by the set of activities required to reach such an outcome. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Functional Degradable Polymers by a Radical Chemistry approach

    Författare :Jenny Undin; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Anna Finne-Wistrand; Jukka Seppälä; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : One class of polymers that is inherently of great value for many applications is the aliphatic polyesters. Such polymers are very suitable for use as temporary guides, scaffolds, for tissue formation and other biomedical applications, due to their biocompatibility, degradability and appropriate mechanical properties. 4. 4. Renewable Energy and Nutrient Valorization from Anaerobic Digestion : Resource-Efficient Solutions

    Författare :Sandra Carlos-Pinedo; Zhao Wang; Ola Eriksson; Shveta Soam; Henrik Wenzel; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solid-state anaerobic digestion; methane yield; digestate; systems analysis; modelling; life cycle assessment; Torrötning; metanutbyte; biogödsel; systemanalys; modellering; livscykelanalys;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a comprehensive analysis aimed at understanding process performance, methane yield, and key influencing factors within the context of solid-state anaerobic digestion (SS-AD). SS-AD is used to treat organic material with high solids content, which can be challenging to address by alternative methods. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Non-linear mechanics of nanocellulose foams

    Författare :Prashanth Srinivasa; Artem Kulachenko; Kristofer Gamstedt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : There has been a growing interest in nano-fibrillar cellulose (NFC), which has been fuelled not merely by the advantages it presents in terms of strength to weight ratio and biodegradability, but also owing to the recent advances in production techniques. NFC foam is essentially a hierarchical structure, wherein nanofibrils account for the smallest scale, with the pores/cell walls forming the meso scale. LÄS MER
