1. Green consumption energy use and carbon dioxide emission
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to explore the quantitative potential to reduce energy requirements and CO2 emissions through changed patterns of consumption, given unchanged levels of consumption expenditure. The thesis question is analysed using a systems analysis approach which in this case means that life cycle assessment data on energy requirements and CO2 emissions related to household consumption are combined with a financial and behavioural analysis to make sure that the budget constraint is kept and that both the first and second order effects of adopting a green consumption pattern are analysed. 2. Impacts of global change on primary production in northern lakes
Sammanfattning : Algae are primary producers, a major component of the aquatic foodweb, and changes in primary production affect aquatic ecology in general. Global changes such as warming, recovery of acidification and changes in land-use have caused warming and browning of northern lakes. LÄS MER
3. Pathways to deep decarbonisation of carbon-intensive industry in the European Union - Techno-economic assessments of key technologies and measures
Sammanfattning : By Year 2050, the EU has committed itself to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80%–95%relative to the levels in 1990, so as to contribute to global efforts to limit the long-term globalaverage temperature increase to.... LÄS MER
4. The role of freshwater phytoplankton in the global carbon cycle
Sammanfattning : Water flowing through the landscape transports chemical substances including carbon. Along the way from upland soils to the ocean, carbon is transformed from organic carbon into inorganic carbon and vice versa. One such carbon transformation process is the uptake of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the water phase by phytoplankton. LÄS MER
5. The Impact of Hydrocarbon and Carbon Oxide Impuritiesin the Hydrogen Feed of a PEM Fuel Cell
Sammanfattning : The proton exchange membrane fuel cell generates electricity from hydrogen and oxygen (from air) through electrocatalytic reactions in an electrochemical cell. The Pt/C catalyst, commonly used in PEM fuel cells, is very sensitive to impurities that can interact with the active catalyst sites and limit fuel cell performance. LÄS MER
