31. Crystallisation of calcium phosphate and calcium oxalate in solutions simulating the composition at different levels of the nephron
Sammanfattning : Calcium oxalate (CaOx) is the most common constituent of urinary calcium stones, but in many such stones calcium phosphate (CaP) is also present and often located in the centre. From these observations it has been assumed that CaP is important in the process that leads to the development of a calcium stone and furthermore that the initial steps in this crystallisation take place in the nephron. 32. Calcium aluminate cement as dental restorative : Mechanical properties and clinical durability
Sammanfattning : In 1995, the Swedish government recommended the discontinuation of amalgam as restorative in paediatric dentistry. Because the mercury content in amalgam constitutes an environmental hazard, its use has declined. LÄS MER
33. Understanding Composition–Structure–Bioactivity Correlations in Bioactive Glasses
Sammanfattning : Bioactive glasses integrate with bone/tooth tissues by forming a layer of hydroxy-carbonate apatite (HCA), which mimics the composition of bone mineral. In the current thesis, we investigated composition–structure–bioactivity correlations of phosphosilicate and borophosphosilicate (BPS) glasses. LÄS MER
34. Structural characterization of complex inorganic materials using solid-state NMR spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Over the past decades, advancements in technology have relied greatly on the development of new functional inorganic materials. Detailed structural characterization of these materials is key for the understanding and also prediction of chemical and physical properties. LÄS MER
35. Regulation of Aquaporins by Proteins, Metal ions and Phosphate groups
Sammanfattning : Aquaporins (AQPs) are membrane-bound intrinsic water channels that allow the passive diffusion of water and small solutes across cellular membranes. There are 13 highly conserved isoforms of these channels in human, which differ in specificity, regulation and localisation in cells and tissues. LÄS MER
