  1. 1. Mechanisms behind Cadmium-Induced Teratogenicity

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Estíbaliz López Fernández de Villaverde; Uppsala universitet.; [2005]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Toxicology; Cadmium; Teratogenesis; Exencephaly; Mechanisms; Toxikologi; PHARMACY Toxicology; FARMACI Toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : Heavy metals polluting our environment cause concern for developing organisms. Among them, cadmium with extremely slow elimination from the body, causes lower birth weight in humans but has not been classify as a human teratogen. Studies in different laboratory animals have shown that cadmium indeed is a potent teratogen. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Bioavailability of cadmium in food : influence of cadmium binding components

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Ylva Lind; Uppsala universitet.; [1997]

    Sammanfattning : .... LÄS MER

  3. 3. Genetic variability and cadmium metabolism and toxicity

    Detta är en avhandling från Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine

    Författare :Gerda Rentschler; [2014]

    Sammanfattning : Abstract: Cadmium (Cd) is ubiquitous in the environment. Human exposure in non-smokers occurs mainly via intake of healthy food like vegetables, cereals, and shellfish. Adverse health effects on kidney and bone at low-level environmental Cd exposure are well-documented in adults. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Reproductive toxicology of endocrine disruptors effects of cadmium, phthalates and phytoestrogens on testicular steroidogenesis

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Molekylärbiologi (Teknisk-naturvetenskaplig fakultet)

    Författare :David Gunnarsson; Umeå universitet.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Endocrine disruptors; reproductive toxicology; cadmium; phthalates; DEHP; MEHP; phytoestrogens; steroidogenesis; testosterone; Leydig cell; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology Molecular biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : A number of investigations during the last two decades describe adverse trends in male reproductive health, which have been proposed to be caused by environmental factors with endocrine disrupting properties. In contrast to many other toxicants, endocrine disruptors often do not show linear dose-response relationships typical of those found in traditional toxicological studies. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Prospective and longitudinal human studies of lead and cadmium exposure and the kidney

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå Universitet

    Författare :Johan Nilsson Sommar; Umeå universitet.; [2013]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cadmium; end-stage renal disease; kidney; lead; longitudinal; matched case-control; mixed effects; prospective; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Cadmium and lead accumulate in humans and can have toxic effects. Exposure to cadmium is well known to cause kidney damage. Cadmium binds to metallothioneins, proteins that play a role in cadmium transport. LÄS MER
