16. Resources, the environment, and sex : Examining variation in sexually selected traits in a livebearing fish
Sammanfattning : Striking variation is observed in sexually selected traits. These traits influence the outcome of competition and choice before and after mating. Before mating, animals compete for the access to mating partners and choose who to mate with between several potential mates. LÄS MER
17. Effect of elevated pCO2 and environmental oxazepam on the behavior and physiology of teleost fish
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis investigated the effect of two aquatic pollutants on the behavior and physiology of teleost fish: i) elevated concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the context of ocean acidification and ii) low concentrations of the anxiolytic pharmaceutical oxazepam in the context of pharmaceutical pollution.Anthropogenic emissions of CO2 are lowering the pH of the oceans. 18. Behaviour under predation risk - antipredator strategies, behavioural syndromes and sex-specific responses in aquatic prey
Sammanfattning : In many natural ecosystems, predation is well recognized as a strong evolutionary force, and predator-mediated selection has been demonstrated to induce changes in prey morphology, life history and behaviour. In my thesis, I have focused on behavioural responses in aquatic prey under the risk of predation. LÄS MER
19. Methylsulphonyl-chlorobenzenes and the olfactory system : Comparative toxicity of the 2,5- and 2,6-dichlorinated isomers in mice
Sammanfattning : Methyl sulphone metabolites of chlorinated aryl hydrocarbons are persistentenvironmental pollutants that can bioaccumulate in animals and humans. Little is known about the toxicological effects of these metabolites and this thesis is an attempt to increase this limited knowledge. LÄS MER
20. The effects and experiences of internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy : The perspectives of patients with non-cardiac chest pain and healthcare professionals in the emergency and cardiac care
Sammanfattning : BackgroundNon-cardiac chest pain (NCCP) is a common issue, accounting for roughly half of all emergency department visits related to chest pain. Patients afflicted with NCCP often endure cardiac anxiety, misinterpreting the pain as heart-related and fearing it, despite the absence of any life-threatening cardiac issues. LÄS MER
