  1. 11. Presentation of Salmonella antigens by dendritic cells

    Författare :Ulf Yrlid; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serology; Immunology; antigen processing and presentation; Dendritic cells; Salmonella; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates the interaction between dendritic cells (DC) and the Gram negative intracellular bacterium Salmonella typhimurium. Using in vitro and in vivo approaches, the capacity of DC to directly and indirectly present antigens from Salmonella-infected cells, cytokine production by infected DC, and activation of bacteria-specific T cells was analyzed. 2. 12. Functional aspects on the Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen 5

    Författare :Martin Dufva; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epstein-Barr Virus; EBV; B-cell; transformation; cDNA array; polyadenylation; transcription; cell cycle; apoptosis; two-hybrid system.;

    Sammanfattning : The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infects resting B-cells. This leads to an EBV driven transformation of the resting B-cell into a cell with an activated B-cell phenotype that proliferates indefinitely in vitro. Epstein-Barr Nuclear antigen 5 (EBNA5) is one out of six EBV encoded protein involved in transformation of resting B-cell. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Studies of human dendritic cells in the skin after antigen exposure

    Författare :Emily Bond; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells (DCs) act at the interface of innate and adaptive immunity. They are capable of inducing strong effector immune responses to invading pathogens, but also exert important functions in the maintenance of tolerance. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Innate immune responses in vivo after antigen administration : implications for vaccine development

    Författare :Frank Liang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Inducing high magnitude of antibodies with epitope breadth over prolonged periods of time is likely a prerequisite to prevent several of the world’s most serious infectious diseases such as HIV-1, malaria and tuberculosis for which there are no vaccines yet. A much better understanding of the innate immune mechanisms that are critical for inducing strong responses to vaccination is therefore essential. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Influence of MHC class I peptide interaction on antigen presentation in normal and malignant cells

    Författare :Qian-Jin Zhang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cytotoxic T lymphocytes; Natural Killer cells; Epstein-Barr virus; MHC class I; class I binding motifs; T cell receptor; antigen presentation; immunodominance;

    Sammanfattning : The presentation of MHC class I peptide complexes in normal and malignant cells was studied. An HLA A11 binding motif was defined by comparing synthetic peptide analogues of a known cytotoxic T Iymphocyte (CTL) target epitope for induction of surface A11 expression and triggering of cytotoxic activity.
