6. Tapasin - The star of the show in HLA-I maturation
Sammanfattning : Human leukocyte antigen class I (HLA-I) molecules are present on the cell surface of all nucleated cells. They bind intracellular peptides and present them to the immune system thus providing a readout to cytotoxic T-cells about the status of a cell. LÄS MER
7. Processing of live and heat inactivated Sendai virus for presentation on MHC class I molecules
Sammanfattning : The present thesis deals with processing of antigens from live and heat inactivated Sendai virus and their loading on MHC class I molecules for presentation to CTL. In paper I it was observed surprisingly that T2 cells (T2 cells transfected with H-2Kb), being defective in the expression of TAP peptide transporters, still presented Sendai virus antigen on MHC class I molecules to CTL. 8. Restoring antitumor immunity with dendritic cell reprogramming strategies. Reprogramming cancer cells to antigen-presenting cells
Sammanfattning : For the past two decades, immunotherapy revolutionized cancer treatment. However, responses vary significantly among eligible patients and some cancer types are not yet open to immunotherapy. Several mechanisms contribute to immunotherapy resistance, including loss of antigen presentation machinery and immunosuppression. LÄS MER
9. Prion processing and propagation in neuronal and dendritic cell culture models
Sammanfattning : Prion diseases are rare neurodegenerative diseases, associated with a conversion of a normal cellular protein, PrPC, into its misfolded and partial protease resistant isoform, PrPSc. These diseases affect both animals and humans and are unique since they can not only be genetic and sporadic, but also transmissible. LÄS MER
10. Studying the influence of the physicochemical properties of lipid nanoparticles for mucosal vaccine delivery
Sammanfattning : Lipid-based nanoparticles have attracted attention as promising pharmaceutical carriers. Reports of them having inherent adjuvant properties make them particularly interesting as vaccine vectors; however, the physicochemical profile of an ideal nanoparticle for mucosal vaccine delivery remains unknown.
