  1. 1. Exotic Ribosomal Enzymology

    Författare :Josefine Liljeruhm; Anthony C. Forster; Christophe Danelon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; rRNA modification; Methyltransferase; RlmM; RlmJ; D-amino acid; Unnatural amino acid; Chromoprotein; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis clarifies intriguing enzymology of the ribosome, the multiRNA/multiprotein complex that catalyzes protein synthesis (translation). The large ribosomal RNAs (23S and 16S rRNAs in E. coli) are post-transcriptionally modified by many specific modification enzymes, yet the functions of the modifications remain enigmatic. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Investigation of RNase P active site residues and catalytic domain interaction

    Författare :Guanzhong Mao; Leif Kirsebom; Roland Hartmann; Britt-marie Sjöberg; Anders Byström; Anthony Forster; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RNase P; Ribozyme; PRORP; Induced fit model; RNase P-pre-tRNA interaction; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : RNase P is an essential endoribonuclease responsible for the maturation of the tRNA 5’end. The RNase P family encompasses the ribozyme based, RNase P RNP, and proteinaceous RNase P (PRORP). The ribozyme based RNase P is widely distributed in most species while PRORP has so far mainly been found in some eukaryotic cells. LÄS MER

  3. 3. In Vitro Kinetics of Ribosomal Incorporation of Unnatural Amino Acids

    Författare :Jinfan Wang; Anthony Forster; Jason Chin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ribosome; protein synthesis; unnatural amino acids; kinetics; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Ribosomal incorporation of unnatural amino acids (AAs) into peptides or proteins has found broad applications in studying translation mechanism, discovering potential therapeutics, and probing protein structure and function. However, such applications are generally limited by the low incorporation efficiencies of the unnatural AAs. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Too big to fail? A case study of the rise and fall of a medical research infrastructure

    Författare :Anthony Larsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Distributed Research Infrastructures are becoming increasingly more salient as science expands and universities continue to look for new means to cooperate and share expertise and expenses on large-scale projects. One area which has seen much development in recent years is biobanking, as there have been numerous attempts to harmonise the different biobanking standards over the years, none of which have been entirely successful.
