6. MRI Contrast Enhancement and Cell Labeling using Gd2O3 Nanoparticles
Sammanfattning : There is an increasing interest for nanomaterials in bio-medical applications and in this work, nanoparticles of gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3 ) have been investigated as a novel contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Relaxation properties have been studied in aqueous solutions as well as in cell culture medium and the nanoparticles have been explored as cell labeling agents. LÄS MER
7. Regulation of antimicrobial peptide gene expression in Drosophila melanogaster : Involvement of POU and NF-kB/Rel factors in innate immunity
Sammanfattning : The fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, has a well-developed immune response, and microbial assault induces a rapid production of potent antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). The aim of this thesis work was to gain deeper knowledge of the regulation of AMPs in Drosophila, by the isolation and characterization of transcription factors involved in AMP gene expression. 9. Family formation in two-mother families : Experiences of parental support in antenatal and child health care in Sweden
Sammanfattning : The aim with the thesis was to examine same-sex mothers experiences of forming a family, pregnancy, parenthood and parental support from professionals in antenatal and child health care. An additional purpose was to explore professionals' experiences of meeting and supporting families with two mothers. LÄS MER
10. Regulation of the Expression of Mouse Ribonucleotide Reductase Small Subunit at the Levels of Transcription and Protein Degradation
Sammanfattning : Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) carries all the genetic information of a cell. Ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) provides balanced pools of all four dNTPs, the building blocks of DNA. These building blocks are needed during DNA synthesis and repair. LÄS MER
