1. Growth hormone and the heart in children
Sammanfattning : Background and Aims: The fact that growth hormone (GH) influences cardiovascular structure and function is well established through both human and animal studies. Despite being secreted in a pulsatile fashion, only the impact of peak GH concentrations on cardiac parameters has previously been reported, and the time-dependency of cardiovascular effects during GH treatment has not been detailed. 2. Response of human skeletal muscle to chronic and acute exercise and ischemia : muscle dimensions, tissue water and blood flow as measured by magnetic resonance imaging and comparative methods
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to investigate the response of human skeletal muscle to exercise, training and ischemi and to evaluate if magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) could be used to measure regional muscle cross-sectional area, muscle perfusion and detect muscle ischemia in patients with intermittent claudication. For this purpose studies were performed on 29 healthy young volunteers and 7 patients with intermittent claudication. LÄS MER
3. Investigations of chemical and enzymatic functionalization of affinity proteins
Sammanfattning : AbstractAffinity proteins are important reagents in research, diagnostics and therapeutic settings. The focus of this thesis has been on investigating different chemical and enzymatic strategies for engineering of affinity proteins to generate affinity reagents with improved or changed functionality. 4. Doing Things in Relation to Machines : Studies on Online Interactivity
Sammanfattning : The Internet is often discussed in conjunction with various notions of interactivity. Recently, conceptualizations of a “Web 2.0″, mainly focusing on harnessing user-generated content, have grown increasingly common in both public discourse and among researchers interested in the continued growth and transformation of the Internet.
