  1. 6. Impact of candidate genes on obesity and type 2 diabetes

    Författare :Ewa-Carin Långberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) have strong genetic components. Identification of susceptibility genes in both diseases will give better knowledge of their pathomechanisms and future therapies. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Microarray Technology for Genotyping in Pharmacogenetics

    Författare :Ulrika Liljedahl; Ann-Christine Syvänen; Denis Grant; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Molecular medicine; microarray; genotyping; pharmacogenetics; molecular medicine; single nucleotide polymorphism; hypertension; Molekylärmedicin; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ;

    Sammanfattning : The studies in this thesis describe the development of a microarray based minisequencing system and its application to highly parallel genotyping of single nucleotide polymorphisms. The technical developments included identification of a three-dimensional microarray surface coating with high binding capacity for oligonucleotides modified with amino groups as the most optimal one for the system. 3. 8. Functional and genetic studies in type 2 diabetes and obesity

    Författare :Mohammed Hamza Z E Seed Ahmed; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes (T2D) and obesity are highly prevalent disorders reflecting a complex interplay of genetics, epigenetics, and environment. They constitute serious health problems and lead to significant morbidity and mortality. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Exocytosis in Type 2 Diabetes- Functional and genetic studies of hormone secretion

    Författare :Sofia A Andersson; Diabetes - öcellsexocytos; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 2 Diabetes; Insulin; Glucagon; Alpha-cells; Beta-cells; Exocytosis; Capacitance; SNARE; SNAP25; Syntaxin1A; Synaptotagmin; Munc-18 Stxbp1 ; SNP; Expression; miRNA;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) is characterized by dysregulated beta-and alpha-cell hormone secretion leading to elevated blood glucose levels. Several proteins are crucial in maintaining exocytosis of the hormone-containing granules such as Syntaxin1A (Stx1A), SNAP25, Munc-18 (Stxbp1) and the family of Synaptotagmins (Syts). LÄS MER

  5. 10. Alcohol Consumption: A Study of Genetic and Environmental Correlates with Focus on the Stress System

    Författare :Aniruddha Todkar; Erika Comasco; Anja Huizink; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Alcohol; ELS; maternal separation; gene-environment; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Early life stress (ELS) is associated with risk of excessive alcohol drinking. However, the genetic mechanisms underlying the susceptibility to excessive alcohol drinking are not well understood. DNA methylation may mediate the influence of ELS on gene function and thereby contribute to alcohol misuse. LÄS MER
