  1. 1. Contributions to 3D Image Analysis using Discrete Methods and Fuzzy Techniques : With Focus on Images from Cryo-Electron Tomography

    Författare :Magnus Gedda; Ewert Bengtsson; Stina Svensson; Carolina Wählby; Punam Saha; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; digital image analysis; 3D; fuzzy; algorithms; grey-weighted distance; region growing; electron tomography; tracing; fluorescence microscopy; Datoriserad bildanalys; Computerized Image Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : With the emergence of new imaging techniques, researchers are always eager to push the boundaries by examining objects either smaller or further away than what was previously possible. The development of image analysis techniques has greatly helped to introduce objectivity and coherence in measurements and decision making. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Automatic Shape Modelling with Applications in Medical Imaging

    Författare :Anders Ericsson; Matematik LTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heart-infarction; lung-embolie; Parkinson; DaTSCAN; SPECT; SCINT; affine shape; MDL; automatic shape models; Deformable models; active shape; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two parts. The first part is devoted to automatic shape analysis and the second part is devoted to decision support systems in medical imaging. Shape models are widely used in segmentation and shape analysis. The thesis begins with a review of deformable models and the preliminaries of shape modelling. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Numerical Methods for Aerodynamic Shape Optimization

    Författare :Olivier Amoignon; Martin Berggren; Per Lötstedt; Olivier Pironneau; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computational Fluid Dynamics; shape optimization; adjoint equations; edge-based finite-volume method; moving mesh adaptation; radial basis functions; inviscid compressible flow; transition control; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : Gradient-based aerodynamic shape optimization, based on Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis of the flow, is a method that can automatically improve designs of aircraft components. The prospect is to reduce a cost function that reflects aerodynamic performances. LÄS MER

  4. 4. A 3D Digital Approach to the Stylistic and Typo-Technological Study of Small Figurines from Ayia Irini, Cyprus

    Författare :Valentina Vassallo; Antikens kultur och samhällsliv; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Cypriot archaeology; Coroplastic; Figurines; 3D shape analysis; 3D GIS; Analytical investigation; Semantics;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis aims to develop a 3D digital approach to the stylistic and typo-technological study of coroplastic, focusing on small figurines. The case study to test the method is a sample of terracotta statuettes from an assemblage of approximately 2000 statues and figurines found at the beginning of the 20th century in a rural open-air sanctuary at Ayia Irini (Cyprus) by the archaeologists of the Swedish Cyprus Expedition.
