16. Deformation and Fatigue Behaviour of Porous and Dense Austenitic Stainless Steel
Sammanfattning : PM stainless steels are increasing in use and are expected to do so in the future. A lot of work has been carried out concerning production and sintering of stainless steel powders and on the resulting corrosion behaviour. The deformation behaviour of these materials is less studied. LÄS MER
17. High temperature performance of materials for future power plants
Sammanfattning : Increasing energy demand leads to two crucial problems for the whole society. One is the economic cost and the other is the pollution of the environment, especially CO2 emissions. Despite efforts to adopt renewable energy sources, fossil fuels will continue to dominate. LÄS MER
18. Moisture-induced distortion in timber structures - examples based on partition walls
Sammanfattning : The shape of timber changes due to variations in moisture content (MC). In Scandinavia, producers normally dry timber to an MC of 18%. However, after the studs are built into the wall structure, for example, they may become distorted as a result of further drying in the structure. The final MC in a heated building in Scandinavia is about 8%. LÄS MER
19. The role of whole grains and lignans in lifestyle diseases : emphasis on prostate cancer and type 2 diabetes and their risk factors
Sammanfattning : Whole grains are rich in dietary fibre and bioactive compounds and have consistently been associated to improved health and lower mortality. Whole-grain rye is rich in fermentable fibre and lignans, that are converted to enterodiol and enterolactone by the gut microbiota. LÄS MER
20. Moisture Induced Stresses in Timber Structures
Sammanfattning : Wood is a hygroscopic material; always striving to reach equilibrium with the surrounding air, and consequently the moisture content is different in different climate conditions. The strength of wood is directly dependent on the moisture content, lower moisture content leads to increasing strength. LÄS MER
