  1. 16. Deformation and Fatigue Behaviour of Porous and Dense Austenitic Stainless Steel

    Författare :Ulf Lindstedt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mechanical properties; austenitic stainless steel; PM steel; nitrogen; small cracks; previous particle boundaries; microplasticity; grain size dependence; fatigue; porosity;

    Sammanfattning : PM stainless steels are increasing in use and are expected to do so in the future. A lot of work has been carried out concerning production and sintering of stainless steel powders and on the resulting corrosion behaviour. The deformation behaviour of these materials is less studied. LÄS MER

  2. 17. High temperature performance of materials for future power plants

    Författare :Junjing He; Pavel Korzhavyi; Rolf Sandström; Stefano Spigarelli; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Austenitic stainless steels; Nickel based superalloys; Low cycle fatigue; Creep-fatigue; Creep cavitation; Grain boundary sliding; Cavity nucleation; Cavity growth; Creep rupture strength; Advanced ultra-supercritical power plants.; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing energy demand leads to two crucial problems for the whole society. One is the economic cost and the other is the pollution of the environment, especially CO2 emissions. Despite efforts to adopt renewable energy sources, fossil fuels will continue to dominate. 3. 18. Moisture-induced distortion in timber structures - examples based on partition walls

    Författare :Magnus Bäckström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gypsum wallboard; spiral grain angle; restraint; Norway spruce; Connection; twist; spring;

    Sammanfattning : The shape of timber changes due to variations in moisture content (MC). In Scandinavia, producers normally dry timber to an MC of 18%. However, after the studs are built into the wall structure, for example, they may become distorted as a result of further drying in the structure. The final MC in a heated building in Scandinavia is about 8%. LÄS MER

  4. 19. The role of whole grains and lignans in lifestyle diseases : emphasis on prostate cancer and type 2 diabetes and their risk factors

    Författare :Anne Kirstine Eriksen; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Whole grains are rich in dietary fibre and bioactive compounds and have consistently been associated to improved health and lower mortality. Whole-grain rye is rich in fermentable fibre and lignans, that are converted to enterodiol and enterolactone by the gut microbiota. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Moisture Induced Stresses in Timber Structures

    Författare :Johan Jönsson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknik; load carrying capacity; Technological sciences; reinforcement; short-term strength perpendicular to grain; internal stresses; glulam; contact free measuring technique moisture gradients;

    Sammanfattning : Wood is a hygroscopic material; always striving to reach equilibrium with the surrounding air, and consequently the moisture content is different in different climate conditions. The strength of wood is directly dependent on the moisture content, lower moisture content leads to increasing strength. LÄS MER
