  1. 1. Deformation and Fatigue Behaviour of Porous and Dense Austenitic Stainless Steel

    Författare :Ulf Lindstedt; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mechanical properties; austenitic stainless steel; PM steel; nitrogen; small cracks; previous particle boundaries; microplasticity; grain size dependence; fatigue; porosity;

    Sammanfattning : PM stainless steels are increasing in use and are expected to do so in the future. A lot of work has been carried out concerning production and sintering of stainless steel powders and on the resulting corrosion behaviour. The deformation behaviour of these materials is less studied. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On particles and slags in steel casting

    Författare :Dimitrios Siafakas; Anders E.W. Jarfors; Taishi Matsushita; Sridhar Seetharaman; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hadfield steel; deoxidation; grain size; inoculation; particles; viscosity; slag;

    Sammanfattning : Hadfield steel is widely accepted as one of the most important steel alloys utilized in industrial applications where high impact strength and wear resistance is required. Like in most metallic alloys used for component casting, the mechanical properties of Hadfield steel are directly connected with the microstructure of the material. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Computational modeling of polycrystals using gradient crystal plasticity

    Författare :Mikkel Grymer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; parallel algorithms; crystal plasticity; dual mixed finite element method; gradient hardening; grain modeling;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis treats the modeling of grain size dependence inmicrostructure models of metals. It is shown how gradient hardening, in a thermodynamically consistent fashion, can be included into a crystal plasticity model, which is used as the constitutive model in each grain of the polycrystal. 4. 4. In-plane mechanical properties of birch plywood and its performance in adhesively bonded connections

    Författare :Tianxiang Wang; Magnus Wålinder; Roberto Crocetti; Simon Aicher; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Birch plywood; in-plane mechanical properties; adhesively bonded connections; gusset plates; load-to-face grain angle; spreading angle; Björkplywood; mekaniska egenskaper i planet; limmade förband; belastningsvinkel relativt ytfanérens fiberriktning ; spridningsvinkel; Building Materials; Byggnadsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Birch (Betula spp.) is a hardwood species with a wide natural distribution on the Eurasian continent, especially in northern Europe. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On the Role of Interfaces in Small Scale Plasticity

    Författare :Carl F. O. Dahlberg; Jonas Faleskog; Lars Pilgaard-Mikkelsen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The strong evidence for a size dependence of plastic deformation in polycrystalline metalsis the basis for the research presented in this thesis. The most important parameter for this, and arguably also the most well known, is the grain size. As the size of the grains in a microstructure is decreased the yield stress increases. LÄS MER
