  1. 16. Modelling and Experimental Verification of Direct Drive Wave Energy Conversion : Buoy-Generator Dynamics

    Författare :Mikael Eriksson; Mats Leijon; Jan Isberg; Arne Wolfbrandt; Kim Nielsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Engineering physics; Wave energy; Potential wave theory; Linear generator; Simulations; Experiments; Point absorber; FEM; Equivalent circuit theory; Teknisk fysik; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on development of models and modelling of a wave energy converter in operation. Through the thesis linear potential wave theory has been used to describe the wave-buoy interaction. The differences lie in the generator models, in the simplest model the generator is a mechanical damper characterized by a damping factor. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Extreme wave conditions and the impact on wave energy converters

    Författare :Eirini Katsidoniotaki; Malin Göteman; Vincent Neary; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; extreme waves; wave energy converters; CFD; OpenFOAM; environmental contours; focused waves; breaking waves;

    Sammanfattning : The amount of energy enclosed in ocean waves has been classified as one of the most promising renewable energy sources. Nowadays, different wave energy conversion (WEC) systems are being investigated, but only a few concepts have been operated in a sea environment. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Fluxes and Mixing Processes in the Marine Atmospheric Boundary Layer

    Författare :Erik Olof Nilsson; Anna Rutgersson; Harm Jonker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Waves; Growing sea; Swell; Marine boundary layer; Air-sea interaction; Mixing; Momentum flux; Wind stress; Flux attenuation; Sensor separation; Large eddy simulation; Multiresolution analysis; Coupling; Wave model; Climate model; Wave age; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric models are strongly dependent on the turbulent exchange of momentum, sensible heat and moisture (latent heat) at the surface. Oceans cover about 70% of the Earth’s surface and understanding the processes that control air-sea exchange is of great importance in order to predict weather and climate. LÄS MER

  4. 19. On the Modelling of Train Induced Ground Vibrations with Analytical Methods

    Författare :Anders Karlström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ground vibrations; train; wave propagation; dynamic flexibility; trench; railway track; vibration isolation; wave barrier; soil-structure interaction;

    Sammanfattning : A novel analytical approach to model train induced ground vibrations is proposed. Integral transform solutions are combined with series solutions to obtain fast numericalalgorithms, where a particular designed boundary condition for finite regions is seen to enable the solution procedure. 5. 20. Large eddy simulation of transonic flow with shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction

    Författare :Christian Wollblad; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; shock wave; turbulent boundary layer; LES;

    Sammanfattning : Large eddy simulations (LES) of shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction (SWTBLI) have been carried out. The flow configuration was that of transonic flow over a bump with inlet Mach number 0.75 and maximum Mach number 1.27. LÄS MER
