  1. 1. Atmosphere-ocean Interactions in Swell Dominated Wave Fields

    Författare :Alvaro Semedo; Anna Rutgersson; Oyvind Saetra; Piero Lionello; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Waves; Wind sea; Swell; Swell propagation; MABL; Air-sea interaction; Momentum flux; Wave climate; Coupling; Wave age; Empirical Orthogonal functions; Wave model; Climate model; WAM; RCA; wave heights; Meteorology; Meteorologi; Meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Sammanfattning : Ocean wind waves represent the atmosphere-ocean boundary, playing a central role in the air-sea exchanging processes. Heat, mass and momentum are transferred across this boundary, with waves mediating the exchange of principally the momentum between the winds and the ocean surface. During the generation process waves are called wind sea. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : On March 13th, 2006, the Division of Electricity at Uppsala University deployed its first wave energy converter, L1, in the ocean southwest of Lysekil. L1 consisted of a buoy at the surface, connected through a line to a linear generator on the seabed. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Aspects of Wave Interaction in Nonlinear Media

    Författare :Björn Hall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nonlinear Schrödinger equation; incoherent solitons; partial incoherence; nonlinear wave interaction; Gross-Pitaevskii equation; modulational instability; collective dynamics; Wigner transform; nonlinear guided waves; Bose-Einstein condensation;

    Sammanfattning : Selected aspects of various types of nonlinear wave interaction are investigated. These aspects are studied in terms of models described by Nonlinear Schrödinger equations, mainly analytically and numerically, but also experimentally. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Wave interactions by Hamiltonian methods

    Författare :Krister Wiklund; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Hamiltonian formulation; wave interaction; stability; variational principles;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the description of fluids and gases from a Hamiltonian point of view. The method we apply is a development of the theory invented by Hamilton (1805-1865). The original formulation is restricted to a certain family of dynamical variables; the canonical variables.
