  1. 1. Passive sampling for monitoring of inorganic pollutants in water

    Författare :Jesper Knutsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heavy metals; urban run-off; WFD; pollutant monitoring; passive samplers; natural water; speciation; waste water;

    Sammanfattning : As new environmental management policies for watersheds are implemented, there has been a growing interest for new monitoring alternatives. Traditionally grab sampling has been the method of choice for monitoring purposes, but may not be adequate or economically viable, to meet the requirements of the new policies. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Perspectives on Biofilms for the Removal of Organic Micropollutants in Wastewater

    Författare :Ellen Edefell; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wastewater treatment; wastewater; biofilm; ozonation; activated carbon; powdered activated carbon; granular activated carbon; biological degradation; Moving bed biofilm reactor;

    Sammanfattning : The use of biofilms to improve the removal of organic micropollutants in waste¬water treatment plants (WWTPs) has been investigated. The work is divided into two parts. In the first part, the use of biofilms for the biological degradation of micro¬pollutants was investigated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Health hazards associated with dissemination of bacterial strains in waste water recycling

    Författare :Mokhlasur Rahman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Treated waste effluents with low levels of chemical and microbiological contents are used for domestic, industrial, agricultural and aquacultural purposes worldwide, and it is estimated that one tenth or more of the world’s population consume food produced through irrigation with wastewater. Treated hospital waste effluents may contain pathogenic and drug resistant bacteria, which constitutes the most dangerous single risk factor for dissemination of pathogenic and drug resistant organisms to the environment. 4. 4. Strategy for Monitoring Organic Pollutants in Waste Water with Focus on Improved Sample Preparation

    Författare :Staffan Bergström; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Membrane extraction; Sample preparation; Organic pollutants; Monitoring strategy; Landfill leachate;

    Sammanfattning : Strategy and methodology is presented for the analysis of organic pollutants, with the purpose of evaluating treatment procedures for landfill leachate. Today, many investigations of treatment procedures are focusing on the measurement of water quality parameters such as chemical and biochemical oxygen demand, (COD and BOD), and total organic carbon, (TOC) when assessing the organic compounds in waste waters. 5. 5. Environmental occurrence and behaviour of the flame retardant decabromodiphenyl ethane

    Författare :Niklas Ricklund; Michael McLachlan; Amelie Kierkegaard; Adrian Covaci; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; brominated flame retardant; decabromodiphenyl ether; waste water treatment plant; mass balance; sludge; long range transport; atmospheric deposition; bioaccumulation; bioavailability; Persistent organic compounds; Persistenta organiska föreningar; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The environmental occurrence and behaviour of the brominated flame retardant (BFR) decabromodiphenyl ethane (dbdpe) has only been studied to a limited extent. It is structurally similar to decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE), which makes it conceivable that dbdpe may also become an environmental contaminant of concern. LÄS MER
