    Sammanfattning : Advances in technologies for vehicular communication enable new applications for Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems (C-ITS). Communicating vehicles share information and cooperate, which allows for improved safety, fuel economy, and traffic efficiency. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Safety-oriented communication in mobile networks for vehicles

    Författare :Ioan Chisalita; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; vehicular communication; active safety systems; collision warning and avoidance; safety-related information; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Accident statistics indicate that every year a large number of casualties and extensive property losses are recorded due to traffic accidents. Consequently, efforts are directed towards developing passive and active safety systems that help reducing the severity of crashes or prevent vehicles to collide with each other. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Robust Vehicular Communications for Traffic Safety---Channel Estimation and Multiantenna Schemes

    Sammanfattning : Vehicular communications, where vehicles exchange information with other vehicles or entities in the road traffic environment, is expected to be a part of the future transportation system and promises to support a plethora of applications for traffic safety and efficiency. In particular, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication promises to support numerous traffic safety applications by enabling a vehicle to broadcast its current status to all the other vehicles in its surrounding. Sammanfattning : Introduction: Crashes resulting from a failed interaction between drivers and vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians or cyclists, can lead to severe injuries or fatalities, especially after failed overtaking maneuvers on rural roads where designated refuge areas are often absent, and impact speeds high. This thesis contains two studies that shed light on driver interaction with either 1) a pedestrian or 2) a cyclist, and oncoming traffic while overtaking. LÄS MER
