21. Generation and metrology of ultrashort pulses and their application in attosecond science
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the dynamical processes in atoms and small molecules initiated by the absorption of ultrashort, coherent light pulses. The studied phenomena takeplace on the femtosecond (1 fs = 10−15 s) and attosecond (1 as = 10−18 s) timescales and critically depend on the properties of the light fields that drive them. LÄS MER
22. A Stacked Prism Lens Concept for Next-Generation Hard X-Ray Telescopes
Sammanfattning : Over the past half century, the focusing X-ray telescope has played a very prominent role in X-ray astronomy at the frontier of fundamental physics. The finer angular resolution and increased effective area have enabled more and more exciting discoveries and detailed studies of the high-energy universe, including the cosmic X-ray background (CXB) radiation, black holes in active galactic nuclei (AGN), galaxy clusters, supernova remnants, and so on. 23. Applications of Short Extreme Ultraviolet Pulses to the Spectroscopy of Atoms and Molecules
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the characterisation in time and frequency, and to spectroscopic application, of extreme ultraviolet (XUV) pulses. High-order harmonic generation or wave mixing processes were used to produce the pulses in the XUV spectral region. LÄS MER
24. Sources and Diagnostics for Attosecond Science
Sammanfattning : Ultrafast science refers to physical events that happen on the femtosecond (1 fs=10^-15 s) and attosecond (1 as=10^-18 s) timescales. Generation of attosecond pulses is usually achieved by interacting high-intensity femtosecond pulses with matter (typically gases), in a process called high-order harmonic generation (HHG). LÄS MER
25. Short Attosecond Pulse Trains at High Repetition Rates for Novel Pump-Probe and Coincidence Studies
Sammanfattning : This work aims at studying photoionization dynamics from atoms and surfaces at attose time scales. The work was based on development and applications of a high repetition rate High-order Harmonic Generation (HHG) light source that utilizes Optical Parametric Amplification (OPA) laser technology.
