  1. 6. Diseases in the hip - Exploring risk for fracture and osteoarhritis

    Författare :Cecilie Hongslo Vala; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hip fracture; Femoral neck fracture; Trochanteric fracture; Osteoporosis; Osteoarthritis; Total hip replacement; Total knee replacement; Farmers; Homogamy; Assortative mating; Bereavement;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: Hip fracture is the most serious condition linked to low bone mass or osteoporosis, and Sweden has one of the highest incidences in the world. The proportion of elderly is increasing in the Swedish population and in the world, and with increased age comes increased incidence for both fragility fracture and osteoarthritis. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Knee joint kinematics, fixation and function related to joint area design in total knee arthroplasty

    Författare :Johan Uvehammer; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Total knee arthroplasty; polyethylene insert; kinematics; migration; clinical outcome; inducible displacement of the tibial component; radiostereometry.;

    Sammanfattning : The aim was to study the influence of different designs of the joint area on tibial component fixation, kinematics and clinical outcome after a cemented total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The HSS score and a special questionnaire were used at the clinical examination. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Knee joint kinematics and the effects of arthropasty component design

    Författare :Tuuli Saari; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Total knee replacement; motion analysis; radiostereometry; migration; kinematics; radiolucent lines; clinical outcome;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: To evaluate the influence of medial osteoarthritis on knee joint kinematics and the effect of design in total knee replacements (TKR) on the kinematics of trunk, hip, knee and ankle. Associations between articulating surface design, clinical outcome and fixation of the tibial component were also evaluated. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Exercise in Youth and Long-Term Effects on Bone and Joints

    Författare :Magnus Tveit; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; arthroplasty; BMD; bone mass; bone geometry; bone size; exercise; former athletes; fracture; fragility fracture; knee injury; osteoarthritis; osteoporosis; hip injury; runners; soccer; total joint replacement;

    Sammanfattning : Partly due to an ageing population, the number of osteoporosis-related fractures and osteoarthritis (OA)-related hip and knee arthroplasty procedures is increasing. The individual suffering and the burden on society for these conditions is immense. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Osteoarthritis. Epidemiologic and genetic aspects

    Författare :Jonas Franklin; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; body mass index; knee; hip; epidemiology; Osteoarthritis; occupation; hip fracture; inheritance; natural history;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study was to (I) assess the association between body mass index (BMI) and total hip replacement (THR) and total knee replacement (TKR) due to osteoarthritis (OA), (II) assess the association between the mechanical load of work and THR and TKR due to OA, (III) evaluate the natural history of radiographic hip OA with regards to THR and hip fracture, (IV) to determine the prevalence of radiographic OA in patients with hip fracture, and (V) to examine and compare the inheritance patterns of THR for OA and hip fracture. OA was previously regarded as a consequence of the wear and tear the joint is subjected to during one’s lifetime. LÄS MER
