  1. 1. Kangaroo Mother Care : Parents’ experiences and patterns of application in two Swedish neonatal intensive care units

    Författare :Ylva Thernström Blomqvist; Christine Rubertsson; Kerstin Hedberg Nyqvist; Uwe Ewald; Mats Eriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kangaroo Mother Care; Neonatal intensive care unit; Preterm infant; Nursing; Parenting; Pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is an alternative model of care that prevents parent-infant separation when preterm infants need neonatal intensive care by skin-to-skin contact between infants and their parents. KMC is also a strategy that involves parents in their infants’ care and enables them to assume the responsibility for the care. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The epidemiology of risk factors and short- and long-term outcome in the Swedish intensive care cohort

    Författare :Björn Ahlström; Miklós Lipcsey; Ing-Marie Larsson; Gunnar Strandberg; Markus Skrifvars; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intensive care; Intensive care unit; Sepsis; Covid-19; Epidemiology; Dementia; Mortality; Causes of death; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : The sepsis syndrome is present in ¼ to ⅓ of patients in intensive care units (ICUs) worldwide. The short-term prognosis is grim, with a 30-day mortality of 30–35%; however, the long- term outcomes are now being explored, as multi-professional follow-up after ICU care is increasingly being implemented. 3. 3. ICU prognostication: Time to re-evaluate? Register-based studies on improving prognostication for patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU)

    Författare :Peder Andersson; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Intensive Care; Critical Care; Mortality; Cerebral Performance Category; Cardiac arrest; Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest; Sepsis; Lactate; Troponin; Neuron-specific enolase; Neurofilament light; Age; Elderly; Prognostication; Prediction; Scoring system; Neural net; Artificial neural network; Deep learning; Artificial intelligence;

    Sammanfattning : Background: ICU prognostication is difficult because of patients’ prior comorbidities and their varied reasons for admission. The model used for ICU prognostication in Sweden is the Simplified Acute Physiology Score 3 (SAPS 3), which uses information gathered within one hour of ICU admission to predict 30-day mortality. 4. 4. The National Early Warning Score (NEWS) - Testing and evaluation in a Swedish setting

    Författare :Martin Spångfors; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Early Warning Score; Critical Care; National Early Warning Score; in-hospital cardiac arrest; Patient Safety; Critical care outreach;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundDeviating vital signs have been known to precede Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) like In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (IHCA), unplanned Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission or unexpected death for more than a decade but still the recognition of these deteriorating patients is poor.The British National Early Warning Score (NEWS) is a ‘‘track and trigger’’ scale designed to assess in-hospital patients’ vital signs and detect clinical deterioration. 5. 5. Parental participation in paediatric surgical care. Clinical, ethical and economic considerations

    Författare :Inger Hallström; Barns och familjers hälsa; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hospitalised child; ethics; day-care surgery; Children s care; cost-effectiveness; paediatric surgical care; parent; parental participation; security.; Pediatrics; Pediatri;

    Sammanfattning : In order to deliver optimal paediatric care, we need to know what children and their parents need, expect, and experience. Thus, the general aim of the studies upon which this thesis is based was to elucidate different aspects of parental participation in the care of their child during hospitalisation for paediatric surgery, a specific aim being formulated for each of the four studies.
