  1. 1. Release and Clearance Mechanisms of Cardiac Troponin

    Författare :Karin Starnberg; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomarkers; cardiac; Troponin;

    Sammanfattning : Myocardial infarction (MI) is often suspected when a patient presents with chest pain. MI is defined as cardiac necrosis due to ischemia, most often mediated through impaired coronary perfusion. Cardiac necrosis results in the release of myoglobin, creatine kinase and cardiac troponin (cTn) to the circulation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Assessment of patients with symptoms suggestive of acute coronary syndrome : the use of high sensitive cardiac troponin T and a risk score

    Författare :Dina Melki; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; troponin;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate patients with symptoms suggestive of acute coronary syndrome with regard to early diagnosis and prognosis by the use of high sensitive cardiac troponin T and a risk score: a low-risk group in which admission and further investigations may not be necessary. In paper I, the early diagnostic value of high sensitive cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) was compared with conventional cardiac troponin assays in 233 patients with symptoms suggestive of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). 3. 3. New Risk Markers in Atrial Fibrillation

    Författare :Ziad Hijazi; Jonas Oldgren; Lars Wallentin; Agneta Siegbahn; Ola Hammarsten; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atrial fibrillation; stroke risk; cardiac biomarkers; troponin; natriuretic peptides; NT-proBNP; risk stratification; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) confers an independent increased risk of stroke and death. The stroke risk is very heterogeneous and current risk stratification models based on clinical variables, such as the CHADS2 and CHA2DS2VASc score, only offer a modest discriminating value. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Coagulation, Inflammation and Myocardial Dysfunction in Unstable Coronary Artery Disease and the Influence of Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa Inhibition and Low Molecular Weight Heparin

    Författare :Stefan James; Lars Wallentin; Agneta Siegbahn; Robbert de Winter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Acute coronary syndrome; Angina; Mortality; Myocardial infarction; Glycoprotein IIb IIIa inhibition; Troponin; C-reactive protein; Coagulation; Natriuretic peptide; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : Hjärt-kärl sjukdom är den vanligaste dödsorsaken i västvärlden. Samtidigt som antalet patienter med hjärtinfarkt har minskat, har antalet patienter med instabil kranskärlsjukdom d.v.s. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Early Risk Stratification, Treatment and Outcome in ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction

    Författare :Erik Björklund; Bertil Lindahl; Lars Wallentin; Ulf Näslund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Acute myocardial infarction; Thrombolysis; Troponin; Electrocardiography; Natriuretic peptide; Prognosis; Prehospital thrombolysis; Treatment delay; Mortality; Registry; Clinical trial; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : We evaluated, in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with thrombolytics, admission Troponin T (tnT), ST-segment resolution and admission N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) for early risk stratification as well as time delays and outcome in real life patients according to prehospital or in-hospital thrombolytic treatment. Also, baseline characteristics, treatments and outcome in patients enrolled in the ASSENT-2 trial in Sweden and in patients not enrolled were evaluated. LÄS MER
