1. Stereoscopic Label Placement : Reducing Distraction and Ambiguity in Visually Cluttered Displays
Sammanfattning : With increasing information density and complexity, computer displays may become visually cluttered, adversely affecting overall usability. Text labels can significantly add to visual clutter in graphical user interfaces, but are generally kept legible through specific label placement algorithms that seek visual separation of labels and other objects in the 2D view plane. 2. Gaining Depth : Time-of-Flight Sensor Fusion for Three-Dimensional Video Content Creation
Sammanfattning : The successful revival of three-dimensional (3D) cinema has generated a great deal of interest in 3D video. However, contemporary eyewear-assisted displaying technologies are not well suited for the less restricted scenarios outside movie theaters. LÄS MER
3. Energy Analysis for Graphics Processors using Novel Methods & Efficient Multi-View Rendering
Sammanfattning : Real-time rendering is increasingly being performed on battery powered devices, such as laptops and mobile phones. As a result, performance in rendering time is not the only important factor, but the energy consumption is also becoming more and more important, as a lower energy usage directly translates to longer battery time. 4. Efficient Methods for Volumetric Illumination
Sammanfattning : Modern imaging modalities can generate three-dimensional datasets with a very high detail level. To transfer all the information to the user in an efficient way there is a need for three-dimensional visualization. LÄS MER
5. Perceptual Surface Reconstruction
Sammanfattning : How does the brain transform the 2-D light arrays in our eyes into a meaningful 3-D description of surfaces around us? What assumptions does the visual system make about the world when information is incomplete? And how are these assumptions computationally expressed in this perceptual reconstruction process? These questions, and other aspects of binocular depth perception are analysed from a theoretical and computational perspective, as well as through empirical investigations. In paper one, the fundamentals of stereopsis are briefly reviewed, and the difficulties related with resolving the (stereo) correspondence problem are particularly discussed. LÄS MER
