16. Environmental and hydrogeological geophysics with applications in Thailand, Laos, and Sweden
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents applications of geophysical methods in the fields of environment and hydrogeology. In relation to environmental problems, two different geophysical surveys have been carried out; one to study an arsenic contaminated area in the southern Thailand (paper I) and a second to locate shallow faults in Quaternary sediments in an area around the Ongkharak Nuclear Research Centre, central Thailand (paper II). 17. Blue Oceans with Blue Mussels - Management and planning of mussel farming in coastal ecosystems
Sammanfattning : Eutrophication is one of the largest and most serious global threats to the marine environment. The effect of eutrophication has become increasingly clear during recent time, and major economic and political efforts are being made to tackle its causes and consequences in Sweden and its surrounding seas. 18. Molluscs, Environment and Man - A Bioarchaeological Approach in Sweden
Sammanfattning : The thesis aims to examine the role and use of molluscs in Swedish prehistory, in chorological and chronological aspects. Molluscs live in the sea, fresh water and on land. The Swedish mollusc fauna contains 623 taxa: 417 marine, 85 limnic and 121 terrestrial species. LÄS MER
19. Wave energy conversion and the marine environment : Colonization patterns and habitat dynamics
Sammanfattning : A wave energy park has been established on the Swedish west coast outside Lysekil and pioneer work about its interactions with the marine environment has been conducted. So far, little is known about the effects of offshore energy installations on the marine environment, and this thesis assists in minimizing environmental risks as well as in enhancing potential positive effects on the marine environment. 20. Immunotoxicology in Marine Invertebrates - Effects of Manganese on Immune Response
Sammanfattning : Manganese, Mn, is an abundant element in nature, particularly in soft bottom sediments of the oceans and in bedrock. The metal is predominantly bound to the sediment in the colloid state, MnO2. LÄS MER
